Foundations Complete For WC16
Friday 28th August 2015
Volunteer your mind for a journey like no other coming to Thorpe Park Resort in 2016. Work on the new attraction looks to have been steady over the past few days with the final section of foundations complete. Judging by the history of the project, the rest of the building should start going up in the next few days. We suspect that over the next two weeks the whole site will look very different.

Inside the section of building already built work has continued on what we believe will become a tunnel? It is still unknown what the attraction will be however we are sure it wont be an immersive tunnel experience which seems to be a big rumour going around at the moment. Banners surrounding the construction area have been changed form saying the island has a dark secret to posters of an eye and the website mindswanted.co.uk All photos taken from public areas.

Build Update
Friday 21st August 2015
The island has a dark secret and its only time until we find out what it is! Work on the new ride at Thorpe Park has progressed nicely since our update Monday night. The foundations have been poured and more foundations are being dug out towards Nemesis Inferno. According to the plans this will be the last foundations for the main building then work on constructing the other building can begin. Judging by the time it took for the other slab of concrete to be marked out and filled we suspect that by this time next week the site will be fully poured and then the following week more steel work will start to go up.

The outline of the building has started to be cladded with red metal sheets matching the outside of X. The plans show that this building will stay this colour however the building yet to be constructed will be themed. Its still unclear what the ride could be however looking at the plans this new building will have three different heights. The lowest we suspect will be the shop and baggage, the second being slightly taller than the building already constructed. The third will be directly above the pit which we believe will be the main ride area.

Advertising around the park has continued over the week with more posters going up at the park entrance, exit and around the park. The big screen at the entrance to the park also plays the video from the minds wanted website advertising the new attraction. More news on WC16 soon!

Work Continues On WC16
Monday 17th August 2015
Minds are wanted for Thorpe Parks next attraction, arriving 2016 work on the ride is picking up pace with foundations poured in the pit and rebar has been put in place for the other section of the building ready to be poured soon. Metal beams have been added inside the building forming what looks to be a tunnel inside. We think that this tunnel section could be part of the station. Since our last visit a roof has also been added to the building. It is expected that once the other section of the site has had its foundations poured that the building will go up in no time.

Workers on site today spent a good chunk of time checking rebar suggesting that foundations could be poured very soon! Towards the end of the day we noticed that since we took the first batch of photos at the start of the day that workers had started to paint some of the metal guarders white. Metal beams for cladding for the outside of the building continue to be put on the building. We suspect that the park will get the building complete before starting to build the ride to keep the attraction a secret until open day. Near the goal striker building a large section of path has been dug up near the construction site. It is currently unknown if this is just maintenance or if some promotional material for the ride could go here? A long shot but something similar was done near Stealth for The Swarm.

Leaflets for mindswanted.co.uk are now being handed out at the Annual Pass building and the park exit. We believe that when island beats is done in a few weeks time that marketing will go into overdrive for the attraction. With the fright nights line up currently unknown we don't know if one of the mazes could be linked in with the new attraction for next year.

WC16 Goes Vertical
Thursday 6th August 2015
A lot can change within a week and that has been proven by the WC16 building site this week. On Monday news broke that construction had gone vertical and within the past 5 days it looks as if the shell of the building has almost been completed. With this section of the building being the smallest in height we where still shocked of how tall this section is in person.

Inside the building there appears to be the start of what we think could be a projection room with curved pieces of metal being bolted together to form a large chamber. The building currently appears to have been separated into two sections, the larger left hand side with the curved metal chamber and the right which doesn't have anything special in it yet. Down towards the other end of the site work has been done around the pit for more foundations to be laid and poured over the next few weeks. We believe that in the space between now and two weeks time the rest of the building will shoot up, judging by how fast this section has been erected.

Marketing for the attraction has started with the launch of a mini site for the attraction. https://mindswanted.co.uk “THE ISLAND’S DARK SECRET WILL GET INSIDE YOUR HEAD. IT WILL DISTORT YOUR REALITY. YOU’LL BE OUT OF YOUR MIND TO MISS IT..” The website doesn't currently have much on it however on the homepage theres a macro video of an eye blinking along with a sign up page for news on the attraction.

Foundations Poured
Saturday 1st August 2015
Foundations have been poured and the site is being prepared for building framework to be constructed in the next few weeks, but what could the building contain? The mystery continues! Since last week most of the metal rebar on site has been filled in with concrete leaving the rest of the site left to be laid with rebar’d and poured. On the construction site the big slab of concrete (nearest Storm Surge) metal rods are coming out of the concrete which look to indicate where supports for the building will go. Around the site metal beams can be seen for the building along with metal joiners on a palette near the edge of the concrete slab. This could be the start of the building going up sooner than we thought! Photos taken from public areas.

Project WC16 Update
Saturday 25th July 2015
Project WC16 at Thorpe Park Resort is progressing well with the pit and floor space of the building now outlined with metal rebar ready for concrete to be poured in the next few days (we suspect). With today being a Saturday we didn't expect to see any work going on, however around 5 builders where on site today adding more rebar into the pit. At the moment it isn't very obvious what the attraction could be however we believe that the pit could hold the ride servers and plant machinery. Scattered around the site there is still lots more metal rebar to be added until the foundations are complete. We suspect that in a months time we will see the rides foundations finished and start having the outside of the building go up.

We don't believe that the park are going to build the ride in visual site. We think the building will go up first then the ride will be carefully constructed behind closed doors to keep everything secret from the general public and us enthusiasts. No more marketing has begun yet however we believe that once the Island Beats event is complete that marketing will be plastered across the whole of the park about the new attraction. An opening date for the attraction hasn't been mentioned yet however we still think Thorpe Park have a good chance of getting the ride up and running for March next year.

Ride Construction Update
Saturday 11th July 2015
Foundations for WC16 at Thorpe Park are progressing nicely with a large pit in the middle of the site appearing over the past few weeks. Since our last update a few weeks ago the edges of the pit have been outlined with wood and have started to be bricked up. Concrete supports drilled into the ground appear to be finished around the site with the large pillar drill now gone.

It is still unknown what the attraction will be however we think that it will be an indoor rollercoaster of some type. It is highly unlikely that we will know the full details on the attraction until open day. No more marketing for the attraction has been released yet however we believe that it will begin after the Island Beats event. The hype around this new ride with theme park enthusiasts is just what the park wants. Keeping us guessing till the last minute! WC16 Station Supports
Saturday 27th June 2015
Work is picking up pace at Thorpe Park Resort for WC16 with foundation support rods being drilled into the ground. Since our last visit it would seem the drilling of supports has continued along with the forming of what we believe will become the ride station. However this could just be the starting of lining the outline of the building. Down the edges of the site so far there is a large trench that we believe is having pipes put in for drainage purposes.

More sand and dirt has been placed towards the front of the site near the games stall in Amity Cove restricting people looking into the site. With the construction site being a hive of activity recently were sure work is going to progress nicely over the next few months! Looking back a year its strange to think this was just a bit of disused space sitting there unused. Photos taken on Storm Surge with permission of Ride Operator.

Foundation Preparations For WC16
Saturday 13th June 2015
It would appear that work on WC16 is about to step up another gear at Thorpe Park Resort. In the past week more yellow pegs have been added around the site and a large drill has moved back on site ready to drill the holes for foundations to be poured. A cement mixer without wheels has been added to the side of the site ready for work to begin during the week. At the front of the cement mixer we have what we believe to be the first of the footers for the attraction. Last week we reported seeing a truck of metal rebar next to Nemesis Inferno, this truck has now been emptied and stacks of rebar have been placed around the site.

A large pile of dirt is slowly forming towards the front of the site, however it is currently unknown why? We believe it could be to stop people from looking into the site however there are easier ways to do that! It is believed that over the next 3 or 4 weeks the rebar placed around the site will lay the floor space the attraction will take up. Then work on constructing the building framework can begin.

No more marketing for the attraction has started yet, however were still only mid season with more important events currently going on, theres still plenty of time for marketing to properly begin. Work appears to be progressing nicely and we cant wait to see the progress over the next few weeks!

Rebar Spotted
Sunday 7th June 2015
Work on WC16 is progressing with a truck full of rebar spotted along the Nemesis Inferno maintenance road. New parking spaces have also been temporary marked out near where the shed from the blare witch project was. It is believed that these will be for the workers over the next few months.

The floor of the arena appears to be ready for foundations to be poured. Metal pegs with yellow flags on top have been placed around the work site, it is believed that these pegs will be the location for where the rebar will go or for footers to be poured.

It seems unlikely that the ride will have foundations that are dug into the ground as the army of diggers that where on site last week have gone, leaving only a few left on site. When talking to someone in the building industry he noticed that the surface of the site was covered in “scalpings” a material often used before foundations are poured. More news and construction updates to come in the next few weeks.
