The World of David Walliams to arrive at Alton Towers in 2020

Today it was announced that Alton Towers would be bring 'The World of David Walliams' to Alton Towers in 2020.

The popular TV personality, who began his career as a Television comedian and now more prominent as a judge on Britain's Got Talent is now more associated with the best selling books he started to write more than 10 years ago.

David Walliams signed a two-book contract with publisher HarperCollins, which were both illustrated by Quentin Blake, most popular for illustrating the books from Roald Dahl. The first book written by Walliams was 'The Boy in the Dress' and the second was 'Mr Stink' which were both met with positive reception.

David Walliams has since continued to write a further 10 books, this time all illustrated by Tony Ross, most known for illustrating the Horrid Henry series of books and Walliams' books have now become a household name and most people would have heard of some of his titles in the collection such as Gangster Granny and Ratburger. Even if you haven't read the books you have probably seen many of the film adaptations of the books or even stage adaptations!

The announcement of The World of David Walliams will be located in the current location of Cloud Cuckoo Land and will feature a 'headline' attraction as well as several other small rides. The new area will debut Spring 2020, it is also rumoured that the hotels will see an inclusion of World of David Walliams themed suites.

"It’s a huge thrill for some of my favourite characters to be getting their own attractions at Alton Towers” said David Walliams. “I can’t wait to experience them for myself, and from all the work that has gone in, I think people are going to love it. All will be revealed next year.”

Under New Management Something New Is Coming In 2020 At Alton Towers

Something new is coming to Alton Towers in 2020! The Woobleworld building has been closed off with construction walls blocking it off from the public, in the past few years the Woobleworld space has been used for the Halloween attraction House Of Monsters. 

The new promo artwork on the construction walls just says the space is under new management and doesn't give anything away. Guests are told to visit altontowers.com/2020 for more clues and to sign up for news of whats to come.
