Land of the Tiger Opens At Chessington World Of Adventures

Tiger Rock is now open at Chessington World of Adventures! Developed in conjunction with Zoo experts, Land of the Tiger celebrates one of the world’s most majestic and most endangered animals. Our Amur tigers are truly at the heart of the innovative enclosure, home to four Amur tigers, the world’s largest tiger species.
In a European first, the specially designed enclosure introduces overhead trails, allowing the tigers’ freedom to roam, and guests to observe the species in a whole new way, right above their heads. Other areas allow guests not just to observe, but to ‘interact’ with the awe-inspiring animals in a variety of experiences, and together make amazing discoveries about the Amur Tiger via Chessington’s own, Learn Your Stripes initiative.
Land of the Tiger Previews To Press

Land of the Tiger previewed to the press and media yesterday and has gone down really well! The 4 new tigers are beautiful and seem to be taking an interest in the Tiger Rock log flume ride. A few years ago the tunnel halfway through the ride was shortened however in the closed season the tunnel has been rextended and refreshed to its former glory with a few tweaks here and there. Gone is the long boring tunnel! The area feels refreshed after its makeover. Land of the Tigers opens to the public Saturday 5th May 2018.

Land of the Tiger Project Complete?

Everything seems to be going very well over at Chessington and the new Land of the Tiger area. The construction site office that used to be based near dragons fury has now been removed and theming outside the construction gates has gone up over the past few days. In the form of a new entrance portal and some red flags with a tiger on it. A few days ago, another theme park page reported the ride testing, today two boats could be seen sitting on the ride lift hill.
Theming on the final drop is now looking incredible, last week we could see people painting on the fine details onto the theming and this week it's now visible the amount of time and detail they where painting on it. Even from the Korba queue line and the Tomb Blaster viewing platform which sees the back of the structure, it looks stunning.
Land of the Tiger Build Update

Work on the rethemed area at Chessington has progressed well since our last update a few weeks ago! The Rock face theming on the final drop looks to almost be completed and two of the new Tigers have been seen roaming around the first of the new enclosures. The theming around the area that we can see from the Kobra ride and queue line looks really good and some sections of the new area seem to retain the old Mystic East area theming. The Dragon Tunnel also appears to have received some work over the past few months. With not long left until the area opens we're excited to see what the final product looks like!

Land of the Tigers and Tiger Rock has progressed nicely since our update at the staff preview last weekend. Today is the Annual Pass Preview for the theme park season and since last week the metal framework for the drop theming has been completed and now cladding and the metal wire mesh for the tiger theming is being added.
The enclosures for the new tigers are nearing completion with the viewing windows installed and tents installed. A look through the access gate next to the Dragons Fury queue line reveals red cladding around the metal structure.
Land of the Tiger Construction Update

Land of the Tiger at Chessington World of Adventures isn’t due to open until May 5th, 2018 however, today at a staff preview, we got to see a small glimpse into how the area is looking. The animal enclosures look to be almost ready with the ones by the Kobra ride queue line looking pretty cool. Complete with bark clippings and fake grass the enclosures look a lot nicer than the current ones. The enclosures and high walks for the animals take advantage of the area around the ride. You can hardly recognize the area anymore. You wouldn’t have thought that peeking heights stood there less than a year ago and Samurai for those old enough to remember it!
The station of the old dragon falls ride looks the same from the outside but the buildings around the area are getting a face lift with some of them being painted bright blue and green. At the final drop of the ride, metal beams have been put into place for what will be the lion statue theming that you fly through
Land of the Tiger looks like its going to be an interesting area when it opens! It will make a good addition to the parks line up.

Something Tigerrific is coming to Chessington in 2018. Work on Tiger Rock isn’t standing around for anyone. Mystic East is no more, with the area closed for the past few weeks work is fully underway to prepare the area for a new lease of life.
The foundations that once held up peeking heights have been dug up and removed to make way for the new tiger enclosures. Photos of the site also show that a lot of trees have been cut down over the past few weeks.
Down near the site office, some metal footers can be seen ready for what we think will be the new theming feature on the final drop. With the closed season starting in less than 24 hours this will be the last view of Mystic East before the park reopens next year in March! We look forward to seeing how the park transforms the area.

Chessington has submitted plans to the local council about a retheme of the old Mystic East area into a new themed land themed around Tigers. Including new animal enclosures, Dragon Falls will receive new theming around the final drop in the form of a Tiger’s head. If approved this will be the last area of the park that’s been in need of some TLC so hopefully, the next project will be a rollercoaster. It's currently unknown if the Tigers will be the ones the park currently has or if the park is investing money on more Tigers for the area.
All of the animal enclosures in the area appear to be connected by overhead tunnels which is something that hasn’t been done in the UK before!
