Legoland Windsor 2022 Closed Season Insight

Legoland Windsor
Sunday 1st January 2023

It's the first day of 2023 but closed-season maintenance is well underway at Legoland Windsor and works on preparing the park for the main 2023 theme park is well underway! The park is currently open for the park's Christmas event but that isn't stopping the park from making major changes to some areas.

Starting off in the centre of the park, the lighthouse has been completely removed! This lighthouse is used to jump off for the pirate and water shows. Originally installed in 1996 this lighthouse appears to have come to the end of its life, shows that used the lighthouse were stopped towards the end of the summer with rumours going around that the structure was condemned. A large scaffolding tower can be seen surrounding where the lighthouse once stood, it is believed that a brand new lighthouse will be installed over the next few months. Theming for the old tower can be seen sitting on the floor waiting to be reinstalled.

Over in the Imagination area, the large Technicnic Dinosaur has been removed and a major retheme appears to be underway. The building that once houses a little lego shop and Lego Reef appears to have been gutted with new walls installed and the exterior of the building repainted. Nothing new has been announced for 2023 yet but we expect that if something is new for this year's theme park season it will be located in this area. We would love to see something replace the space that the old space tower ride once occupied. Old Lego models that used to sit on the roof of the Imagination building can be seen sitting on the floor, we expect that these will end up being removed and won't return.

With plans for a new rollercoaster over the site of Raft Racers approved a few months ago work has begun on removing the old water flume and clearing the ground ready for foundations and for site work. The old ride and station appear to have been fully removed now with heavy machinery now onsite. If you look carefully you can still spot old theming for Raft Racers.

Around the rest of the park, Pirate Falls currently has scaffolding around it for its yearly closed season maintenance, Hydra’s Challenge has been dismantled with the cars placed off-site and the whole ride system receiving its checks. Fairy Tale Brook is undergoing its yearly works with the boats for the ride spotted laying on their side down an access road.

New drinking fountains are also being installed across the park, you will now be able to refill your bottle from these fountains rather than the coke freestyle machines, the only issue being if you don't have a bottle you won't be able to get drinking water from them? A new covered structure has been installed next to one of the coke freestyle units, we expect that this will be for vending machines so you can purchase a freestyle cup. And it would appear work on the lodges has begun, car park C has been fenced off with diggers spotted in one of the fields towards the back of the car parks.
