Project Exodus One Colossus View

Thorpe Park
Saturday 22nd July 2023

It's time for a Project Exodus update that takes it to new heights! This update comes from both the ground and the lift hill of Colossus. Taken during a VIP Lift Hill walk of Colossus this experience gives you a bird's eye view of the construction of the new Mack Rides rollercoaster.

Over the past few weeks, the park has been busy getting foundations ready and from the lift hill of Colossus you can start to see the layout of the rollercoaster and its foundations. Although we might be a few weeks away from the rollercoaster going vertical it's exciting to see progress being made at such a fast pace. This time last year the area was left abandoned and Loggers Leap was still standing.

Towards the back left of the site, foundations for the lift hill and first drop look to be completed. It does feel like the crews building the ride are focusing on the back first and then going forwards. Looking at the site you can see some fresh foundations that could have been poured yesterday towards the front. However, there are still lots of rebar bases left to be installed.

The drill has now also made it to the front of the site meaning we can now see how close to the front of Old Town this rollercoaster is going to get when it comes out of the station. During the day we say the drill making new foundations for it then to stop with the drill left poking out of the ground for the rest of the day.

With support columns delivered for the ride during the week, we also tried to snap a photo ourselves. However, due to all of the trees and bushes, you can only see glimpses of the white supports through the trees from Sunken Gardens and The Swarm Island.

It's fair to say this view from the Colossus lift hill is going to change dramatically over the next few months.
