Bluey The Ride at Alton Towers Receives Entrance Sign and New Theming
Sunday 8th March 2026
It’s our first look at Bluey the Ride: Here Come The Grannies! at Alton Towers in a few weeks, and since our last visit, a lot has changed!

The ride’s station has seen major progress, with themed vinyls now installed around the building. Inside, clouds have been painted across the ceiling, and string lights have been added to give the station a fun and playful atmosphere. The back wall of the station now features large artwork, which appears to include the Alton Towers towers alongside sandcastles.

Moving outside, a large tree theming element has been installed at the center of the ride, surrounding the coaster’s helix element and becoming a key visual feature. Fake grass and speakers have also been added around the area as the theming continues to come together.

Along the track, several playful details have appeared. Large barn doors have been installed at the start of the coaster, making it look like riders are exiting a house as the ride begins. There’s also a fake laundry washing line positioned above the track, creating a fun near-miss effect as the coaster passes underneath.

The main ride sign has now been installed, although at the moment it appears quite small and somewhat flat in design.

Work is also progressing on the queue line, which is now being put into place. It looks like it will include interactive elements for kids to play with while they wait, and shade has been installed over the queue leading into the station.

Overall, the ride area is starting to come together quickly, and it’s exciting to see more theming and details appearing across the attraction.

Alton Towers Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies! Opening March 28th 2026
Wednesday 25th February 2026
Alton Towers Resort has unveiled a giant portrait of Bluey made from over 11,000 cans of beans to announce the opening date of the world’s first Bluey rollercoaster at CBeebies Land.

The artwork, which measures 20 by 15 metres and took 18 hours to complete, has appeared on the park’s iconic lawn, near CBeebies Land ahead of Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies! officially opening on March 28.

Featuring Bluey in her beloved granny disguise complete with headscarf, the installation comprises 11,494 tins.

Bean cans feature in the fan-favourite “Grannies” episode of the multi–Emmy® award-winning animated TV series, where Bluey and Bingo dress up as Janet and Rita - mischievous grannies with a habit for slipping on beans.

The giant installation featuring Bluey dressed as Janet, has brought one of the show’s most-loved alter egos to life at Alton Towers Resort, home to CBeebies Land and marks the countdown to the hotly anticipated opening day.

Howard Ebison, Vice President of Alton Towers Resort said:

“Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies! is all about celebrating energy, play and those everyday moments families love about the show.

“The ‘Grannies’ episode is a firm favourite with our guests, so creating a giant Bluey made from more than 11,000 bean cans felt like the perfect way to mark the countdown to opening day.

“It’s playful, unexpected and unmistakably Bluey - and we can’t wait to welcome families from March 28 to experience the world’s first Bluey coaster right here at Alton Towers Resort.”

Natasha Spence, Events Director, Live Entertainment at BBC Studios said:

“‘Grannies’ is an iconic episode of Bluey.  We also know that fans associate beans with Bluey and Bingo dressing up as Janet and Rita.

“Seeing this fantastic on-screen detail brought to life in such an imaginative way, truly celebrates the countdown to the opening of Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies! at CBeebies Land at Alton Towers Resort.

“We are delighted to be working with the team at Alton Towers to create the world's first Bluey coaster for families across the UK to enjoy this spring Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies! is specifically designed for pre-schoolers and young families who are taken on a journey through Bluey’s Backyard.”

Alongside the new coaster and existing Bluey experiences - including the popular meet-and-greet with Mum (Chilli), Dad (Bandit), Bluey and Bingo and live experience within Big Fun Showtime Alton Towers Resort has announced plans to introduce additional Bluey themed hotel rooms at the CBeebies Land Hotel. With these exciting additions, Alton Towers Resort is set to become the ultimate destination for young families and Bluey fans alike.

Bluey is the number one show on CBeebies in the UK and has been streamed over 1 billion times since it launched on BBC iPlayer (Source: Piano Analytics).  The smash-hit series follows Bluey - a lovable, inexhaustible, Blue Heeler dog, who lives with her Mum, Dad and her little sister, Bingo.

Bluey Coaster Reaches Major Milestone as Train Is Installed
Saturday 14th February 2026
Huge progress has been made on the brand-new Bluey-themed rollercoaster at Alton Towers, and the transformation is becoming more noticeable by the day.

The pathway to the ride remains closed, meaning guests currently need to walk through the Big Show Funtime Arena to access other attractions, but this diversion highlights just how much work is taking place. Most of the construction fencing has now been removed and replaced with a permanent ride-area fence, instantly making the space feel more complete. Grass is also being installed beneath the ride, adding a fresh and finished appearance as the area begins to take shape.

One of the standout additions is the Bluey house, “Heeler House”, which has now been fully completed — and it looks fantastic, just like it does in the videos. Alongside this, the rollercoaster train has been installed, and it’s absolutely huge. Some of the ride cars can already be seen peeking out from the station, giving us our first glimpse of the trains’ colour scheme and building even more excitement.

The clearance envelope tester is currently sat to one side, ready to ensure the ride’s clearance envelope is correct and that guests won’t be able to reach or touch anything during the experience. Meanwhile, two freshly prepared foundation points suggest that additional theming elements are still to come — and we can’t help but wonder what might soon be installed there.

The ride’s exit bridge has also been put into place and looks really smart. We’re particularly intrigued to see what theming or vinyl graphics will be added to both the station and the bridge in the coming weeks.

There is still no confirmed opening date for the attraction, officially named “Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies”, but anticipation is certainly building. We’re also hearing rumours that this could become the first attraction in CBeebies Land to offer Fastrack, which would mark a significant change for the area if confirmed.
