Demon Dolls And Vanishing Visitors: The Curse at Alton Manor Opens This Week
Monday 13th March 2023
Visitors to Alton Towers’ newest spine-tingling attraction will appear to vanish in front of their own eyes, the theme park promises.

Those brave enough to cross the threshold of The Curse at Alton Manor will also be confronted by flying demons, levitating dolls and haunted chandeliers when the attraction opens its doors this week.

The haunting and immersive dark ride charts the terrifying story of Emily Alton - the troubled daughter of a pair of Victorian high society figures who prefer partying to parenting, until one night when they disappeared into thin air. The only person remaining was Emily, and some say she still haunts Alton Manor to this day looking for the one thing denied to her – play.

Through a dozen extraordinary scenes, visitors are taken on a step-by-step journey as Emily wreaks her awful revenge.

Cutting-edge audio technology makes you feel that Emily is talking directly to you, while advanced 3D projection-mapping brings each scenario to chilling life.

These include The Grand Hall, where an opulent party becomes a scene of death with skeletal bodies lying slumped at tables.

The Demon Doll Workshop gives visitors a chilling insight into the mind of Emily with an operating table at its centre and human-size dolls lining the walls, while The Attic is where the lonely and forgotten child languished with just a doll’s house to entertain her.

Ride creators have also hidden fairytale easter eggs in each of the rooms that visitors are encouraged to discover.

Bianca Sammut, Divisional Director at Alton Towers Resort, said: “We’re delighted to finally be able to take the wraps off The Curse at Alton Manor and welcome those brave enough to enter.

“We’ve harnessed the power of cutting edge technology to provide a fully immersive experience that blurs the line between reality and Emily’s demonic world.

“Visitors will even seem to disappear in front of their very eyes as a result of a spine-chilling array of special effects and visuals that have never been seen before from a UK theme park.

“Child’s play, this isn’t. Emily is waiting … The question is, dare you experience what she has in store?”

The Curse at Alton Manor opens to the public on 18th March 2023. To ride, book your visit at altontowers.com.

Giant Haunted Doll’s House Creeps Out The Public As Alton Towers Resort Reveals Launch Date Of Its New Dark Ride

Official opening date of The Curse at Alton Manor revealed as March 18

The world’s first ever pop-up haunted doll’s house provides first introduction to the much anticipated backstory around Emily Alton

Visitors were scared and surprised as they scoured the house for clues on what is to come with the dark ride

Unsuspecting members of the public were given a hair-raising experience as they braved the world’s first ever haunted doll’s house.

The mysterious attraction appeared on London’s Isle of Dogs as Alton Towers Resort revealed that its eerie new dark ride The Curse at Alton Manor will begin spooking visitors from March 18.

Waves of adults and brave youngsters formed at the pop-up as those who dared cross its threshold were confronted by a series of supernatural clues and teasers of what awaits when the immersive dark ride opens. The experience culminated in the first sighting of Emily Alton - the child from the original haunted house, whose demonic exploits inspired the ride.

In a video released by the theme park, she can be heard laughing and counting in the doll’s house, as if playing a game with visitors. A series of sinister messages scrawled across a dark corridor and giant mangled teddy that chased people out of the house, only added to the chilling experience.

The three rooms, which can be seen from the front of the doll’s house as it opens up, each offered a hint of what’s to come with The Curse at Alton Manor. From the living room where Emily Alton once vied for her parents' love and attention, to the dining room where the story of Emily’s demonic nature began, visitors were given just enough to begin to piece together what made Emily so evil.

As well as showcasing spectacular visuals, which the recent pop-up doll’s house alluded to, The Curse at Alton Manor will also bring special effects that will be a first for a UK theme park - from twisted projection mapping technology that transports riders into Emily’s own dollhouse, to mirrors that play tricks by blurring the line between reality and Emily’s demonic world.

Bianca Sammut, Divisional Director at Alton Towers Resort, said: “The British public remain gripped by a desire to be shocked and surprised.

“We hope we haven’t given too many people nightmares with their first taste of The Curse at Alton Manor and their introduction to Emily.

“If visitors thought this haunted doll’s house was impressive, they will be in for a serious surprise this Spring. Our experts have been crafting new and spectacular special effects and visuals that have never been seen before from a UK theme park.

“If you feel you’re brave enough, join us from March 18 to uncover the secrets of her transformation from a once sweet and curious child to a vessel of evil.”

New For 2023 The Curse at Alton Manor
Tuesday 24th January 2023
Families will be trembling in anticipation as Alton Towers Resort has released the first details of its exciting new attraction coming to the theme park this Spring.

The Curse at Alton Manor is the official name of the new attraction and is set to be the Resort’s most immersive dark ride to date.

An eerie image of the new ride-through haunted house has also been unveiled which hints at what’s to come with the attraction when it launches this Spring.

The Resort is keeping ride details, including the backstory of the Manor’s sinister past under wraps for now, however it has said it will be a haunting ride which will frighten and excite both brave youngsters AND adults, as it takes them on a hair-raising journey through the spectacular twists and turns of the cursed manor.

Although there is limited information around what to expect with the ride, creators of The Curse at Alton Manor are said to have found new and unimaginable ways to scare and surprise fans, with special effects and visuals that have never been seen before from a UK theme park.

The spooky site where Alton Manor resides was once home to the attraction Duel, however the ride was abruptly closed after the building was repossessed last year due to unnatural activity  in the area.

Although information around the strange goings-on inside the house is limited, the image offers a set of clues about what’s in store for fans who dare to ride The Curse at Alton Manor, but The Resort is leaving it up to fans to figure this out.

Kate McBirnie, Head of Product Excellence at Alton Towers Resort, said:

“Let the countdown begin! The Curse at Alton Manor is no ordinary dark ride. It has all the components of a supernatural tale - it’s dark, compelling and promises some thrilling and scary moments along the way. Fans of eerie rides will certainly appreciate this one.

“More details on The Curse at Alton Manor will be revealed next month, so stay tuned for what’s to come.”

Duel Retheme Teased At Start Of Scarefest Event
Friday 7th October 2022
Duel might have closed over a month ago but it hasn't been until the start of Scarefest that we received any clues as to what might be replacing the iconic attraction.

A temporary wall has been installed with signs added to it along with some pep holes. Where when you look through them you can see a video playing of a creepy doll in what looks like an attic. Signs have also been added around the area with a phone number, which if you call has a voicemail message about the ride closing.

No theming has been removed from the outside of the ride however looking backstage we can see items of theming that have been removed.

Duel At Alton Towers Closes
Tuesday 6th September 2022
Duel at Alton Towers has today closed its doors for the last time.

The last duel gun has been shot and the last scream screamed! We can't wait to see the changes made to the ride and the surrounding area.

Alton Towers Announces Duel Closure
Tuesday 23rd August 2022
Big changes are coming at Alton Towers Resort,  spotted in the exit of Duel a new sign has been installed leading us to believe that Duel will be closing on 6th September 2022.

06+09 = The Duel Is Over, This is my house

No more information is known or has been posted about Duel closing but it certainly looks like the end of the line for this fun family dark ride. People online have already started to speculate that the writing on the bottom line is written by Molly the little girl in the doll's house in the queue line.

As much as it hurts us to say goodbye to Duel, we can't wait to see what the park does to the attraction next!
