The 2023 theme park season is fastly approaching and it won't be long until the familiar sounds of Chessington will be playing again. However, before the fun can begin again lots of work is going on behind closed doors and some of it is in clear view of guests.
Starting in Shipwrecked coast, Seastorm is undergoing its year maintenance with the ride cars removed and the theming for the ride being stored in the old Creepy Cafe space. Although being relocated and installed from Thorpe Park last year, Trawler Trouble has been removed for some extra TLC this closed season. With the ship and theming removed to allow access to all nuts and bolts on the ride.
In Adventure Point, the old water spinning wheel has been completely replaced, over the past few years this cool water feature has been broken and now working. It's nice to see Chessington spending time and money replacing old heritage pieces like this! Scorpion Express appears to be undergoing its closed-season maintenance with scaffolding seen around some of the track.
Over in the middle of the park. The buildings around the Mane Stage arena are being repainted to freshen the area up, the fresh green roofs really pop on cold winter days. It would appear the temporary stage might be staying a little longer. Hopefully, the park is taking this time to reconsider the setup of the stage and choice to enclose the stage and area.
Tomb Blaster remains closed, no changes here!
River Rafts is receiving some love this closed season with some of the wood being replaced on the drop. It would also appear that some of the structure has been jetwashed over the past few weeks.
It would also appear that Dragons Fury is receiving some work done to it over the closed season. One of the burnt trees from the queue line can be seen on the floor waiting to be removed, could this mean a refresh of the queue line is happening?
Tiger Rock is having lots of work done to it during the closed season with some of the ride structure being repainted and the final drop of the ride receiving new infrastructure. New metal parts look to have been delivered over the past few days and are work in progress being installed.
As advertised on the Chessington website, the sea life centre is currently closed for planned maintenance. No news of what might be happening inside but we're sure it will be back open again soon.
The last change we posted is inside the hotel reception self check-in stations have replaced the previously staff maned reception area.
Chessington is a hive of activity and we can't wait for the theme park season to restart again!
