Splashdown Return? Work Spotted on Hyperia’s Water Effects at Thorpe Park

Thorpe Park
Saturday 19th April 2025

Since Hyperia opened last year at Thorpe Park, fans quickly noticed that one of its most anticipated features — the splashdown water effect — didn’t stick around for long. It was switched off not long after the ride debuted, and has remained inactive ever since, with no official word on whether it would return or be replaced.

Work spotted on-site today reveals that the water effect nozzles and spray points have now been removed entirely. While it’s unclear what exactly this means, it’s sparked fresh speculation: could Thorpe Park be preparing to bring the splashdown back, perhaps in an improved or reimagined form.

Nothing has been confirmed yet, but this small change could be the first sign that something new — or a long-awaited return — is on the horizon. If Thorpe Park do plan to bring back the splashdown, we might be in for a refreshing surprise this season.

EDIT - We've added a photo of what this area used to look like when the effect worked.
