What’s Next for the Former Viking River Splash Area

Legoland Windsor
Tuesday 27th August 2024

Legoland Windsor's Viking River Splash was a staple attraction for many visitors, offering a fun and wet adventure through Viking-themed rapids. However, since the ride closed last September, noticeable changes have been made to the area.

Most significantly, the boats from the ride have been removed, and a large fence has been erected around the ride's entrance and surrounding area. This barrier effectively restricts views into the area, sparking curiosity about the future of this once-beloved attraction. Despite the new fence, those walking along the hill pathway, which still remains open, can catch glimpses of the ride's trough with water still visible. Lego model’s from the hill side path have been relocated into other areas around the park. Surprisingly, the ride's original LEGO models, signage, and theming remain untouched, almost as if the ride is simply paused rather than permanently closed.

Adding to the changes, the "Land of the Vikings" signage that once guided guests along the pathways leading to the ride has also been removed. This suggests a significant transformation is underway, possibly hinting at an entirely new theme or attraction replacing the Viking River Splash.

What could be in store for this large and prominent space? While the ride's future remains uncertain, the introduction of some LEGO-branded construction walls could add a touch of excitement and keep the area visually engaging. Simple signs with messages like "This way for more rides!" would not only maintain the park's immersive atmosphere but also build anticipation for whatever new attraction is in the works.
