The Runaway Mine Train

The Runaway Mine Train at Chessington has been a staple ride of the park for a number of years. Designed by John Wardley the ride was inspired by Big Thunder mountain at Disneyland Paris.Built by Mack Rides the ride has been operational since 1987. Although the ride is no longer called the runaway mine train the ride was refreshed back in 2013 to what is now known as Scorpion Express. The old rock work was removed and the ride was given some much needed tender loving care.
