Stargazing Pods Installation Complete
Friday 22nd March 2019
The Stargazing Pods at Alton Towers resort is set to open on 12th April 2019, and it would appear the new accommodation is ready for its first guests. All of the pods have now received door mats along with room number above the doors.
This unique accommodation is in a camping style with the toilet, shower, baby change, and accessibility facilities all located in a facilities block in the pod camp.
Each pod has two single beds, and a double bed and that is it. Being branded as “minimalistic themed pods” all you get is a bed and a toilet block down one end of the camping site.
Sleeping a maximum of 4 people these won't be any good for large groups. Unlike the hotels where some rooms can sleep a family of 4 or 6. Reception for the Stargazing Pods is using the old Treetop quest reception building. Treetop Quest closed a few years ago after being used for two season and then being closed due to budget cuts.
Stargazing Pods Mid February Update
Sunday 17th February 2019
Work on the stargazing pods at Alton Towers looks to be almost complete with paths to the pods being layed yesterday, more of the standard pods have been installed since we were last on site. However, we're yet to see the premium pods arrive on site. We’re starting to wonder if they got scrapped in favor of more basic accommodation. Work on the factories block also continues along with what we expect will be a small car park for disabled guests. With the new accommodation set to open soon, there's still lots left to do until everything is ready.
