Alton Towers 2022 Events Announced

Alton Towers
Tuesday 15th February 2022

Following Thorpe Park announcing their Events for 2022, Alton Towers today have done likewise, will all the events now showing on the website. The park has added six events to this years line-up including one new one which will debut at the park in Spring:

NEW! Festival of Thrills (4th April - 6th May)

Celebrate the Resort’s awesome rollercoasters as they reawaken this spring at the Resort’s Festival of Thrills!  With serious speeds and heart-pumping loops, twists and turns, guests can join the chosen ones on Wicker Man, brave Oblivion’s iconic vertical drop and enjoy G-forces greater than a space shuttle on the legendary Nemesis.

Festival of Thrills is a celebration of the park's thrill rides, with what seems very similar to the big 6 style challenge that has happened in previous years at the park where you are rewarded for riding all of the coasters during your visit. However, each of the big 7 rollercoasters will have its own live music playing out at the festival, could we see the return of the DJ booth at Nemesis? We will have to wait and see!

Mardi Gras (21st May – 19th June 2022)

Mardi Gras is back for its second year with a brand-new unique bar experience not to be missed. The Carnival inspired takeover is set to dazzle, thanks to an explosion of colours, sounds, high energy entertainment, delicious themed food from the Deep South and around the world plus, so much more ahead of a fun-packed summer of thrills.

Mardi Gras returns for another year with all of the fun returning, each area will see there Krewe's return. It is expected that the food trucks seen last year will also return with a wide variety of options. There is mention of a new unique bar experience so we look forward to seeing it.

Oktoberfest (10th September – 2nd October 2022)

Enjoy thrillfull rides as darkness falls, delightfully themed entertainment for all ages and try some utterly delicious food! All in a cheerful, family-friendly atmosphere...with a German twist!

As the nights get darker, we need some cheering up so thankfully, Oktoberfest returns for a third year with all of the fun of previous years, the second stage returns in Mutiny Bay courtyard and hopefully, we see the return of the Wunder Bar as well as the various food options on the front lawn, Oktoberfest is one of our favorite events so look forward to seeing it return in 2022.

Scarefest (7th - 9th, 14th – 30th October 2022)

This Halloween celebrate 15 years of Scarefest. As the nights get longer, tiptoe into Alton Towers Resort for all sorts of creepy scares, shocks and thrills. Expect spines to be tingled!

Ready for a fright? Of course, Scarefest returns but this year, we hit a milestone year. 2022 marks Scarefest's 15th year and hopefully, we will see some exciting changes to celebrate this landmark, maybe even some blasts from the past? As expected, no news about mazes and entertainment just yet as we usually hear about them later in the year but we are excited to hear more!

Fireworks (4th – 6th November 2022)

The Alton Towers Ultimate Fireworks Spectacular takes electrifying bursts, bangs and howls of amazing fireworks to another level with music, lights and live-action storytelling.

The season comes to a close as when the Alton Towers Fireworks are back again and with some fantastic changes last year including a live DJ as well as a pre-fireworks dance show we hope these return for this year as they really improved the atmosphere of the event.

The announcement of Fireworks also confirms that the pre-book price for Fireworks is £20 like last year, except if you are a Merlin Platinum Passholder

Christmas (Dates TBC)

This Christmas families can make magical memories with a Santa’s Sleepover or enjoy a festive day out with specially selected rides and attractions and visit the Towers Street Christmas Market. Returning for 2022 is the hugely popular Alton Towers Resort & Lightopia ‘Seasonal Wonderland’, providing a magical, immersive journey, the perfect Christmassy escape this festive season.

It seems that around Christmas, the park will be open again for all visitors, unlike previous years where it was for hotel guests only, as well as confirmation that the brilliant Lightopia will return to the resort at the end of this year
