Alton Towers Rapids Waterfalls To Return?

Alton Towers appear to be modifying the waterfalls on the Congo River Rapids ride. The waterfalls have been turned off for a few years now due to the safety concerns of guests standing up. 

However during the parks Christmas event it has been noticed that the park appear to be working on the waterfalls. From a brief look in the dark, it looks like the waterfall structures are being moved backwards. This could just be normal maintenance or we could finally see the return of this effect!
