Alton Towers Skyride 2026 Update

Alton Towers
Monday 9th March 2026

It looks like we might need to wait a few weeks for the Alton Towers Sky Ride at Alton Towers to reopen. Over in Forbidden Valley, the ride’s cables aren’t resting on the wheels of one of the towers, which means they aren’t properly tensioned, preventing the attraction from running. The same appears to be true at the Towers Street station, where maintenance seems to be ongoing on the wheel that keeps the cables tight.

Some of the ride’s cars/pods can be seen sitting in the storage yard, waiting to be reinstated in the storage shed, further indicating that reopening may still be a few weeks away.

Of course, this is all speculation, but based on what we can see, the Sky Ride may not reopen until around May at the earliest.

The Sky Ride is an important attraction for the park, as it connects three areas of Alton Towers, saving guests long walks between attractions. The ride last reopened in 2025 following a major investment by the park, and fans are eager to see it operating again this season.
