Chessington Winters Tail 2021 And Closed Season Update

Chessington World Of Adventures
Sunday 21st November 2021

Winter's Tail is just 6 days away at Chessington World of Adventures and preparations for this year's Christmas event appear to be almost complete. With a huge Christmas tree installed in Adventure Point, along with the Christmas Grottos set up, the park is ready for another year of magic making!

With the closed season beginning just under two weeks ago, lots of maintenance and work is underway across the resort, such as rides being stripped down ready for their annual checks. From everything we could see around the park, Dragons Fury has had its cars removed, Tiger Rock has been drained and has scaffolding in the final drop zone. Tomb Blaster has some scaffolding on the side of the building but we expect this is just for access to the roof to inspect elements of Tiger Rock. The water cannons guests can operate at the end of the drop have also been removed. Monkey Swinger has also been dismantled exposing the centre collum. Our favourite find around the park was the Croc Drop queue time sign saying "Drop Back In 2022"

Access around the park is limited, however, with RoarSOME Weekends currently on selected rides around the park are running such as The Adventure Tree Carousel along with Jungle Rangers and for a one-off today Blue Barnacle was open!  Elmers Flying Jumbos has been removed ready for maintenance and scaffolding now appears to cover the Canopy Capers playground in Land of The Dragons.

Although The Vampire reopens next Saturday as part of the Winters Tail event, staff were jet washing elements of the ride during the day. You can see what sections have been jet washed for the first time in a while. It's great to see the park taking care of how attractions look.

Christmas is just around the corner and work is almost done transforming the park into a winter wonderland! Christmas trees have been planted into the grottos area along with lots of Christmas lights and some new theming.  Previously used to the parks Halloween event this section looks to have been transformed into a winter wonderland. Complete with a chance to see Father Christmas on a time slot basis. Once you've seen Father Christmas you collect your toy in the Christmas workshop in a section of the smokehouse bbq and bar. This appears to be almost ready with final touches being added.

Market stalls have been installed around the park along with more Christmas Trees. Lining the path to the Christmas Kitchen in Wild Asia trees have been installed on the pathway hiding Dragons Furys behind them. Don't forget to take an Elfie on your way into the park outside the new photo wall by the Sealife centre. Home to this years Christmas Panto, the stage in the centre of the park remains the same for now, but with 2 big speakers and a Christmas tree still wrapped up on each side, we expect that before the event starts next Saturday the stage will receive a festive makeover.

It wouldn't be an event without special merchandise, this year the park has brought out a new Winters Tail merchandise collection. Featuring hats, tops, hoodies and a scarf to keep you warm on the colder days.

For those guests staying in the parks hotels extra theming has also been added along with more Christmas trees and lights.
