Wodan – Timbur Coaster, has undergone a notable transformation during the off-season. Known for its intense speed and roaring presence in the Iceland themed area, Wodan has now seen a major upgrade with the installation of GCI’s innovative steel box track — this time, on the section just before the lift hill.
This isn’t the first time Europa Park has experimented with the new track technology on Wodan. In fact, a portion of the brake run was retrofitted with the same GCI metal track two years ago, likely as a trial for durability and ride experience improvements.
The metal track, while maintaining the classic wooden coaster feel, provides enhanced longevity, reduced maintenance, and a smoother ride experience, all while staying true to the ride’s wooden roots.
This latest upgrade begs the question: Is this the beginning of a larger transformation? Could we see more sections of Wodan gradually transition to this hybrid style in the coming years?
