Has Tomb Blaster lost some of its magic?
Sadly we we think so.
During the 2023/2024 closed season, the ride received extra work around the ride with some of the platforms around the ride replaced. However, some of the rides theming and effects are starting to look old and run down. This is highlighted by the roof vents which are left open and exposed during hot summer days.
Tomb Blaster is a unique building similar to The Curse of Alton Manro at Alton Towers. Both buildings have huge vents on the roof to keep the building cool, however, the fans at Alton Towers can keep the daylight out. keeping the surprise and darkness under wraps.
When riding around Tomb Blaster, many scenes are left exposed to the sunlight with roof vents wide open. In one scene in particular, the snake pit. You can see everything with the room almost being lit just by the roof vents.
Unfortunately in the room where you come face to face with the jaguar, some of the theming on the pillar is coming off. One of the panels appears to almost be falling off with the other side of the pillar completely exposed. It looks like work on the effects for the tower might be ongoing, but it doesn't look great to those on the ride.
We would love to see Tomb Blaster undergo a major refurbishment and have what some call The Curse of Alton Manor treatment done to it. Strip the ride back to basics and reimagine this classic dark ride.
