Oktoberfest is back with an absolute flaming banger!

Alton Towers
Thursday 8th September 2022

Back by popular demand, the family-friendly event, Oktoberfest will return to Alton Towers Resort and this year it is spicier than ever! An area of the 500-acre Theme Park will be transformed into a Bavarian-themed destination, complete with Lederhosen-clad hosts, lots of oomptastic live entertainment, delicious German themed food and brand-new for 2022, guests can test their taste buds with the spicy sausage platter using three of the world’s hottest chillies, plus the deliciously creamy salted caramel pretzel ice cream.

From Saturday 10th September until Sunday 2nd October, guests can take on the tongue-tingling spicy sausage challenge. The flaming trio of bangers includes the hot habanero pork, flaming reaper chilli venison and the ghost chilli chicken. If this is too hot to handle, guests can cool things down with the locally sourced salted caramel pretzel ice cream, served in a tub with creamy vanilla ice cream, oozing with swirls of sweet, salted caramel and topped with crushed pretzels, because there’s nothing brat-wurst than a tingling tongue!

If that wasn’t enough, guests can tuck into a delicious selection of traditional bratwursts, schnitzels, Lebkuchen hearts and pretzels. Vegan food options are available including vegan bratwurst, plant based goujons and vegan schnitzels. The double decker Alpine themed bar, Wunderbar will also return where guests can enjoy a beer whilst watching the spectacular stage shows. For those looking for a more laidback Bavarian experience, the Bierkeller located in Mutiny Bay’s Courtyard is the perfect place to relax and unwind while singing along to German tunes and sampling authentic German biers.

Included in the admission price of a theme park ticket, the entertainment-led festival ‘Oktoberfest’ will take place from 11.30am and continue after the rides have closed. The front lawns and the whole of Mutiny Bay will be transformed into a Bavarian wonderland.

There will be two stages featuring vocalists, characters and an oompah band, Oomparty, who will perform modern day hits with a German twist. As well as a jam-packed schedule of live entertainment, there will be additional street theatre including Beer and Bubbles, Alpine Horn Man and the popular Barrell Monks, plus a brand-new character, The Clockmaker.

Guests will also have the chance to enjoy the park’s world-class rollercoasters and family attractions such as Gangsta Granny: The Ride, Wicker Man, Nemesis and The Smiler.

Chris Carter, Events and Entertainments Director at Alton Towers Resort, said: “This year we are hosting even more non-stop fun and thrills for families and thrill-seekers throughout the season.

“Oktoberfest has grown from a small folk festival in Munich to a hugely popular event that’s now celebrated around the world. It brings together a great mix of rollercoasters, live entertainment and fabulous food and drink, plus so much more!

“We’re thrilled the event is returning, we remain committed to creating a much-needed form of escapism for families and thrill-seekers across the UK and beyond.
