On Tuesday 27th May 2014 we where lucky enough to be invited to the press launch of Angry Birds Land at Thorpe Park Resort. Celebrities spotted during the evening were Jonathan Ross from The Jonathan Ross Show, Stacey Solomon from X Factor, Sara Cox from BBC Radio 1 and Amy Willerton from I'm a celebrity get me out of here.
The event consisted of unlimited fast track during the day and when the park had closed an exclusive VIP screening of Angry Birds 4D with pop corn and a celebrity host. Along with many other surprises here and there the park also hired a steel band for the evening a face painter for children and of course free food if you where “feeling peckish” Ride times where extended until 9pm on the night with Stealth, Nemesis Inferno, Rumba Rapids, Tea Cups, Tidal wave and of course all of Angry Birds Land. All of the gaming units in the area where also being run for free so anyone that wanted a go could try them out and win a prize.
Angry Birds Land is new for 2014 and brings with it three new attractions: Angry Birds 4D Experience, King Pigs Wild Hog Dodgem's and Detonator Bombs Away. The new 4D cinema features a 10 minute long movie with 4D effects such as chair movements, smoke effects, strobe lights and bubbles! Without going into much detail about the film, its definitely one of the best 4D movies we have ever experienced. The use of chair movements and the birds is very clever and something we haven't seen anywhere else before. After experiencing the 4D movie Amy Willerton kindly had time to speak to us and has given us a small interview in our Angry Birds Land Launch video.
King Pigs Wild Hog Dodgem's is a brand new ride at the resort with around 30 dodgems in play there really is now where to hide. Like all other dodgers in the UK theres a strict no head on bumping rule however compared to all dodgers in the UK these dodgers really can get some speed going! Detonator Bombs Away is much the same as it used to be however the boards on the ride are now showing the new Angry birds theme on them rather than the old Detonator graphics.
After the V.I.P screening of the film we spoke to the Press Manager of Thorpe Park who spoke about another Angry Birds movie in the pipe line for the public to see in the cinema in the next three years. Thorpe Park have definitely done a good job with Angry Birds Land and we cant wait to see what they do this Summer and at Fright Nights.
