Haunted House Monster Party Launch Day

2019
Legoland Windsor

On 13th April 2019, Legoland Windsor Resort debuts their latest attraction, Haunted House Monster Party to the public and press. The ride is a Vekoma Madhouse ride similar to Hex at Alton Towers.

The ride opened to the public at midday with an opening ceremony featuring the parks director, Chris Ireland and Lego Costume characters from around the world. Lord Vampyre from Legoland Windsor, Spider Lady from Legoland Florida, Witch and Scarecrow from Legoland California.

During the opening ceremony, the parks operational director Chris got the audience dancing and cheering for the ride to open. At the end of the ceremony, a count down started, counting from ten down to zero. When the count down reached zero, music started playing, including a section of the Hex music accompanied by fireworks launching off the top of the building signifying the opening of the ride.

Once inside the queue line for the attraction, posters line the walls of the queue line along with a photo opportunity, Lego models and a small game for kids where they can make a Lego character out of some spinning blocks.

When the old, creaky doors at the front of the haunted house open, your experience begins. As you climb up the stairs you are greeted with paintings of the Lego characters, some of which will bring up when UV lights are turned on display various drawings. Depending on if you are batched into the house first or second you have a slightly different experience walking up these stairs. The whole of the Haunted House has been designed to be fun and not scary like other Madhouses we’ve ridden in the past.

Before sitting down for the main ride experience you are briefed by Lord Vampyre. At the start of the pre-show guests are left standing in the dark, however, by the end, everyone was once again invited to put on their dancing shoes and celebrate and dance as a disco ball spins above your head and illuminates the room with colorful lights. After all, you have been invited to a Monster Party!

Inside the main portion of the ride, guests sit on benches. The party is ready to begin. In front of the guest, there is a table full of Lego items such as candles and a funky table cloth. We don’t want to spoil the ride experience but it was nothing that we expected. Haunted House Monster Party, unlike most of rides utilizing this technology, is more family-friendly with very few scary scenes and more focus on being a fun, light-hearted ride. We have to say that DJ Lord Vampyre is personally our favorite part of the ride.

We thoroughly enjoyed our ride on Haunted House Monster Party and couldn’t recommend it enough to everyone! Fun for all the family and we can’t wait to see this attraction progress over the next few years. Great work Legoland Windsor and Merlin Magic Making!
