Christmas has arrived at LEGOLAND Windsor Resort, with the theme park open from 10 am until 7 pm on selected nights. Tickets must be pre-booked and are priced from £10 for Annual Pass Holders and £35 for normal day guests. With a large amount of the theme park reopen for the Christmas event, along with special entertainment, there is plenty of room for social distancing throughout the park! This year's line up is the best ever, with more rides and attractions open than ever before!
In the entrance plaza and outside the Big Lego Shop, a brand new giant Lego model has been installed. A spectacular dragon-shaped Christmas tree made from 150,000 LEGO bricks can be seen with presents on the ground. We didn't expect the model to be so big!
Due to the current pandemic, the Christmas grotto is closed this year. However, with some clever thinking from Lego management, Father Christmas is taking a tour around the park on his magical sleigh! Don't fear though, just because you cant meet and greet with Father Christmas doesn't mean you can't give him your Christmas letter! The elves have been busy and have built a post office in Miniland, where guests can post a letter to Santa in exchange for a small lego mini build they can take home!
Dotted around the park are extra lego models, Christmas trees and lots of Christmas lights to light up the park at night! We've never seen so many Christmas trees at Legoland before when compared to previous Christmas events. Following previous years, Miniland has some extra small models added, such as; Father Christmas in his sleigh riding around big ben and a mini Christmas market set up in the London area. New for 2020, previously the Knights Kingdom Castle would have some rope lights turned on, however, with the big repaint of the castle during the closed season last year, new permanent lighting has been installed around the castle, programable to any colour! This is a great improvement to the area and we hope that other areas of the park get this treatment over time.
Oh Yes, It Is! The DUPLO® Valley Theatre is the place where families can sit down for a socially distanced pantomime with a twist, as puppets re-enact the classic stories of Cinderella and Elves and the Shoemaker. Unforcently this wasn't open for the first weekend but it sounds amazing!
New for 2020, the Holiday Harbour Lights Show is based on the heart lake city harbour stage. Expect music, dancing, special effects, lots of lights and a special appearance from Father Christmas himself. The show lasts for around 15 minutes and is guaranteed to leave you with a warm feeling in your heart; so much Christmas spirit! The storyline of the harbour Christmas lights show is all about the lighthouse being used as a light beacon to make sure Father Christmas knows where “My Town” is. (Previously the area was called My Town before becoming the Heartlake City Area) The children try and wake the old town mayor to try and get him to turn on the lighthouse lights. However, when he tries to use the button a huge fireball comes up from the back of it. Causing the children and the town mayor to find another way. And of course, it was children's Christmas spirit that worked! We really enjoyed the Holiday Harbour Lights Show, it was by far 10 times better in the dark due to the lights and special effects.
The Lego Friends girls are also roaming around the park, popping up on the Heartlake City Stage and outside the lego store singing festive favourite songs; such as 'Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer' and 'Santa Claus is Coming to Town'.
We really enjoyed Christmas at Legoland, the reduced capacity and all of the festive entertainment going on makes for a great day out. With it being so quiet, you can go on the rides as many times as you want, with very minimal queues! We really hope the Holiday Harbour Lights show makes a return next year, it's truly something special.
