For the past 3 years, Chessington has put on a paid event at the park during December called Winters Tail, with rides and a Christmas grotto open there is enough open to promote the event as a paid extra. Costing £22 extra for annual pass holders, the event is worth it for the upcharge.
Although none of us in our group went through the Christmas grotto, the whole event looked truly magical and the photos of the event prove this! From the Christmas Gruffalo Groove show in the area to riding the Vampire at night in December the event has been a big hit this year.
With a large Christmas tree in Adventure Point and a Santa's Sleigh all lit up, Christmas has truly come to Chessington this year. With the Vampire opening for the first time ever outside the theme park season could the park be trialing Christmas openings for other rollercoasters? Maybe in 2019, the Christmas event will have more rollercoasters open.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the park for Winters Tail, with the park open 10 - 7 pm there's plenty of time to do all of the rides go for a meal in the hotel and then go back in and do it all again!
