Chessington 2020 Closed Season Insight

Chessington World Of Adventures
Sunday 26th January 2020

Chessington World Of Adventures is set to have a big year in 2020. With a whole new area unveiled called “The Rainforest”, a new family log flume ride installed, the Flying Jumbos relocated to Adventure Point and rethemed to the children’s book Elmer the Patchwork Elephant.

With the event Winters Tail now over, the sections of park that are open is now dramatically reduced. We’re now no longer able to look at the construction of the new log flume and Rainforest area. However, we are able to see the construction of the Elmer’s Flying Jumbos ride. Since our last look at the attraction, the main centre of the ride has been reinstalled with cables and two of the arms for the ride installed. Motors, hydraulic cylinders and more arms for the ride can be spotted around the area. However, the repainted cars for the ride are yet to be seen. Two cabins have also been installed in the area, one for the operators booth and the other for the rides PLC’s and ride hardware. Fence posts have also been installed behind the ride, for the rides queue line and boundary fence. Red, green, blue and yellow fence posts can be seen sat on the side ready to make the area more colourful, matching the rides new IP.

Since Winters Tail ending, Tiny Truckers and Sea Storm have entered there closed season maintenance. With Tiny Truckers having its queue line roof removed and Sea Storm having a complete strip down with the ride cars and arms removed. All the cars for the ride can be seen along side the ride area and the arms for the ride are currently located at the old Creeky Cafe site.

Other big bits of construction is happening throughout Chessington in the closed areas, such as the removal of Rameses Revenge and the installation of the new Rainforest area. A new entrance portal into the area looks to be being built at the back of the old Toadies site, with one of the old Toadies Crazy Cars spotted running away down the hill near Dragons Fury. We can also see work on removing Rameses Revenge has started, although the area is unreachable by park guests we can see the counterbalance weights have started to be removed. We expect the ride will be fully removed for the start of the theme park season.

Despite all of the rumours going around that Black Buccaneer will be returning for 2020, no more work has been done to the ride area and we can’t see it happening. We’re unsure on the future of the ride.

Chessington reopens for the theme park season March 19th 2020 and runs until 1st November 2020.
