The Lego Studios 4D cinema at Legoland Windsor is currently being demolished, marking a rather sad end to a much-loved attraction. Despite still being listed on the Legoland Windsor website, the 4D cinema tent is actively being dismantled, and it seems it will not be long before nothing is left of the theatre at all. Inside, the benches remain abandoned, with two cherry pickers looming over the space, giving the whole scene an eerie, forgotten feeling.
What makes the situation even more upsetting is that the theatre appears to have closed without any notice to guests. Instead of a proper send-off, its removal is taking place in full view of visitors, with work happening throughout the day as people walk past. It creates an unfortunate eyesore and takes away from the magic of the area, leaving many to wonder why it was not simply closed off for a short period so the demolition could happen out of sight.
Whilst there is some hope in the promise of a new 4D theatre in the future, it is difficult to ignore that the plans for the replacement remain unapproved. For now, it feels less like progress and more like the quiet loss of a classic part of the park, gone without recognition or a proper goodbye.
