Fjord-Rafting Receives Makeover

Europa Park
Wednesday 10th April 2019

New for 2019 at Europa Park, Fjord-Rafting, the parks rapids ride has received new theming along the route of the ride. Following the fire last year, Scandinavia and Pirates in Batavia were demolished due to the extent of the damage caused. For an entire year, Europa Park has worked tirelessly to rebuild all of the buildings in the Scandinavian themed area, which is due to reopen fully later in the year.

Due to the rapids close proximity to Scandinavia, unfortunately, some of Fjord-Rafting's theming was also damaged meaning that it had to be removed. Europa-Park, not ones to be defeated by such a tragedy decided this is the perfect opportunity to expand the theme to one of the parks many loved attractions.

The new tunnel for the ride looks much more whimsical than its predecessor, which previously was a plain rock tunnel with flame effects within. The tree-themed entrance to the cave now fits much better with the theme of the ride, with the wooden structure resembling human-like facial features and adds a lot more charm to the attraction. Within the cave itself, blue streams of magical light cascade down from the ceiling.

The tunnel has been built by Universal Rocks, who have worked on other theme park projects such as the Klugheim themed area at Phantasialand and are currently involved with Europa-Park's game-changing water park, Rulantica.
