Blackpool Pleasure Beach has officially begun dismantling its long-running Grand Prix ride, which opened in 1960 under the name "Turnpike." After 64 years of operation, the ride was permanently closed following its final season in 2024. Originally featuring petrol-powered cars before transitioning to electric vehicles in 2002, the Grand Prix provided guests with a nostalgic driving experience around its winding track. Demolition started in November 2024 to make way for an exciting new attraction, though details of the replacement have yet to be announced.
