Work on Project Pivot at Thorpe Park is now well underway, bringing major changes to the beach area. The larger section of the beach has already been removed, dramatically opening up the space and making it almost unrecognisable compared to before. The smaller side of the beach, however, is still intact and is expected to operate as usual during the summer season.
This redevelopment will introduce a brand-new area known as the Launch Pad, designed as a more relaxed space where guests can take a break from the busy atmosphere of the park. With the removal of the artificial sand walls, the area already feels more open and modern, and it’s clear this transformation will significantly refresh this part of the park.
One noticeable loss in the redevelopment is the stage, which has been removed. This is disappointing, as it was a key feature of the beach area, although there’s always a possibility it could return in a later phase if further development is planned.
Construction is still ongoing, with new pathways, ramps, and guest infrastructure currently being installed to improve access and flow through the area. There’s also speculation about how the space might be used beyond regular park hours—perhaps even as a relaxation spot for hotel guests in the evenings.
There’s still plenty left to be done, but the changes so far already hint at a fresh and exciting future for Thorpe Beach. It’ll be interesting to see how the Launch Pad develops as work continues.
