Chessington Howl'O'ween 2023 delivered another spine-tingling, fun-filled experience! This annual event, the park’s biggest of the year, had it all—thrilling rides in the dark, face paint, fancy dress, and of course, pumpkins galore. The atmosphere was electric, and the night-time lighting really enhanced the spooky vibe, though extended opening hours would have made it even better.
One of the most exciting additions for 2023 was Enchanted Hollow. Replacing the beloved Creepy Caves, this upcharge attraction featured incredible new sets and costumes, adding a playful twist to the classic trick-or-treat concept. Guests of all ages could knock on doors for chocolates, and pressing a secret button even activated a surprise party mode! The interactivity was fantastic, making this a must-visit.
Another new gem was the Pumpkin Patch next to Croc Drop. This cute and cozy pop-up was full of photo-worthy spots with pumpkins and hay bales. At night, it truly came to life with stunning lights, and helpful actors were on hand to guide you and snap pictures. We’d love to see this charming area return next year.
The Banyan Fire & Ice Show returned, bigger and better than ever. This year’s storyline featured two troops—Fire and Ice—battling it out in an awe-inspiring display with jaw-dropping special effects, fire, and sparks. The costumes and makeup were absolutely top-tier, although it was unfortunate we couldn’t catch the show in the dark. It’s still the highlight of Howl'O'ween each year, and for good reason!
Howl'O'ween Live brought a delightful energy with great songs, live singing, dancing, and of course, chocolate giveaways to the crowd. The performers always put on a fantastic show, interacting with the audience and ensuring everyone had a blast.
The mischievous Witches of Adventure Point were back again, casting spells and causing trouble throughout the day. Their flash mobs at the start and end of the event brought the park to life, while live singing and actor interactions kept the magic alive.
The Vile Villagers walkthrough, returning for 2023, still impressed with its eerie theming and great costumes. With different levels of scariness during the day and later in the afternoon, it catered to all ages. The dark tunnel was especially exciting as you never knew who—or what—might be waiting inside!
Overall, Chessington Howl'O'ween 2023 was a huge success. While we would have loved to see more event-specific merch and longer opening hours for those epic night rides, the incredible attractions, fantastic shows, and haunting atmosphere left us eager for what’s to come in 2024!
