Congo River Rapids and over rapids rides at Merlin parks have been closed for the past few days after a serious incident at Drayton Manor theme park earlier on in the week.
However today Congo River Rapids reopened following a few changes over the past few days.
Staff are now located on the banks of the ride to keep an eye out, new signage on the boats reminding guests to remain seated and hold on tight, more lifeguard buoyancy aids located around the ride area, the water cannons removed, fountains turned off and lights have been added inside the previously dark tunnel.
A lot has been done to the ride in such a short space of time however with the waterfall fountains turned off the ride feels completely different! With the investigation still ongoing, rapids rides at other Merlin parks remain shut as a precaution.
