Griffon VIP Tour

As part of our VIP tour, we had the incredible opportunity to experience Griffon up close — one of the park’s most iconic attractions. Opened in 2007 and built by the renowned Swiss manufacturer Bolliger & Mabillard, this impressive dive coaster features a dramatic 205-foot drop that never fails to take your breath away.

During the tour, we learnt that Griffon utilises three different types of brake units, a fascinating detail that highlights the complexity of its engineering. The maintenance bay is located just to the side of the station, with a transfer track positioned along the brake run to allow trains to be moved on and off the circuit as needed — a clever and efficient setup.

One particularly interesting feature we noticed was the large bar underneath each train, coated with a special surface designed to help the wheels grip as the trains move through the station. The wheels themselves are enormous, reflecting the sheer power and precision required to keep a coaster of this scale running smoothly.

From various points around the ride, we were treated to spectacular views of other roller coasters throughout the park — a real bonus for enthusiasts. We also spotted a few safety helmets adorned with logos from various park projects, including one referencing The Big Bad Wolf, which opened in 2025. These small details added an extra layer of interest to the behind-the-scenes experience.

To top it all off, we were fortunate enough to enjoy two exhilarating rides on Griffon itself. Experiencing the dive, the smooth trackwork, and the precision engineering firsthand was truly unforgettable.

Overall, the Griffon VIP Tour was a fantastic experience — both educational and thrilling in equal measure. For anyone visiting the park, we highly recommend booking this tour to gain a deeper appreciation of the ride’s design, operation, and the incredible team that keeps it running.
