Ghost Train
The Ghost Train at Thorpe Park is one of the park’s most distinctive and atmospheric attractions, designed to blur the line between traditional theme park rides and immersive storytelling. Originally launched as Derren Brown’s Ghost Train—a psychological, illusion-based experience—it combined live actors, special effects, and virtual reality to create a multi-layered horror narrative.
In 2023, the ride was reimagined simply as Ghost Train, removing the VR but keeping its core concept: a haunting journey aboard a Victorian-style train where reality twists into something unsettling. The updated version leans more heavily on physical sets, eerie audio, and theatrical moments, building tension as guests are led through darkened stations, abandoned tunnels, and unexpected encounters.
What makes Ghost Train stand out is its focus on story, suspense, and immersion rather than physical thrills. It aims to make riders question what’s real and what’s imagined—delivering fear through atmosphere, mystery, and psychological tension rather than big drops or high speeds.
