Alton Towers 40th Year Celebrations

Alton Towers has today revealed more information about the 2020 season, and more importantly the 40th year celebrations taking place at the resort. A number of events have already been announced, with more expected in the coming months. Here is a summary of what we know so far from the news released today and over the past few weeks:


Gangsta Granny: The Ride

Gangsta Granny: The Ride, now has a confirmed opening date of 21st March 2020 are you ready to climb into your royal carriage as Granny and Ben enlist your help to pull off the greatest jewel heist in history! Take a spin through the sewers on a 360° special effects laden wild ride to break into the crown jewels vault! Can you grab the jewels and make an explosive escape? Careful, if the Feds catch you, you’ll be in a right royal mess! Can you pull off the greatest Jewel heist in history? 


As well as the new ride opening on the 21st March 2020, we can expect the whole area of the theme park to be transformed, inspired ‘The World of David Walliams’. As well as Gangsta Granny; the Ride, the themed area will feature a host of other rides and attractions where guests can:



  • Pick up a crazy bargain in Raj’s Shop

  • Race on a regal thoroughbred on the Royal Carousel

  • Giggle with delight on Raj’s Bouncy Bottom Burp

  • Along with other surprises and twists along the way


May Half Term

To continue the celebration with the opening of Gangsta Granny: The Ride, the May half term week will have a selection of challenges and activities for all the family. You can join Ben and Granny for a Half Term Heist!


Early Ride Time

The ride line-up for the 2020 season for early ride time (ERT) has also been announced. Guests will be able to ride Wicker Man, Oblivion and Enterprise. Plus a selection of rides within CBeebies Land. These will all be available from 9.30am for resort hotel guests and Merlin Annual Pass Holders. All other guests will be able to ride when the park fully opens at 10am.


Oktoberfest

Aimed at families and thrill seekers alike, Alton Towers Oktoberfest will provide guests with delightfully themed entertainment for all ages and delicious food, all wrapped up in a cheerful and ideal for families atmosphere, with a German twist. The date for this event are as follows, 18th - 20th, 25th - 27th September & 2nd - 4th October. We dont have much information of this event currently, but we can't wait to find out what it will offer!


Scarefest

Are you ready to join us at this year’s terrifyingly fantastic Scarefest event with spooks, frights and thrills for everyone? This unmissable event takes place on selected dates in October/November when the Resort becomes home to Halloween. Open until late so you can enjoy your favourite rides in the dark! This year the dates are as follows 9th - 11th, 16th - 18th, 22nd Oct - 1st Nov. Typically the park is open till 9pm on these select dates.


Fireworks

Confirmed to be back for the 2020 season, the spectacular Fireworks event that will dazzle and delight! This year the fireworks displays will take place on the 6th, 7th & 8th November 2020. And like previous years the park will stay open till late (9pm) so guest can enjoy night rides on all of the popular roller coasters.


The 2020 season is shaping up to be a great season for the resort, Keep your eyes peeled for more information on events as they are announced.
