Alton Towers Turns 40

Alton Towers
Saturday 4th April 2020

Alton Towers Celebrates its 40th Birthday today, after its official opening on 4th April 1980. Launching with its first rollercoaster Corkscrew, which still stands today at the entrance of the park.

Based in the heart of the UK, Alton Towers is home to world-record beating attractions: the world's first vertical drop roller; Oblivion and The Smiler the rollercoaster with the most inversions in the world.

The parks next investment, The World of David Walliams and Gangsta Granny: The Ride is set to open when the park reopens after the COVID-19 outbreak.

Once reopened, Alton Towers is set to have a large number of events: from May Bank Holiday, May Half Term, Summer, Oktoberfest, Scarefest, Fireworks and the return of Santa's Sleepovers.

We are looking forward to seeing all that the park has to offer for its 40th anniversary.
