End of an Era: Go Ape Chessington Closes Its Doors

Chessington World Of Adventures
Tuesday 14th October 2025

Go Ape has confirmed that its Chessington location will permanently close, marking the end of one of Surrey’s most popular outdoor adventure experiences. The closure brings to an end years of zip lines, rope bridges, and forest fun that attracted families and thrill-seekers alike.

Located beside Chessington World of Adventures, the Go Ape site offered a unique blend of high-ropes challenges, scenic woodland trails, and adrenaline-pumping ziplines. For many, it was a staple weekend destination that combined the excitement of theme park energy with the natural beauty of outdoor exploration.

A statement on the official Go Ape website no longer lists the Chessington site among its active locations, suggesting that the closure is now official. While no detailed explanation has been given for the decision, it is thought to be part of a broader restructuring of sites across the UK.

Locals and past visitors have taken to social media to express their disappointment, sharing memories and photos from their time among the trees. “It was one of the best places for kids to build confidence and have fun outdoors,” wrote one user on X (formerly Twitter).

For those still craving adventure, Go Ape continues to operate at nearby locations including Alice Holt (Farnham) and Battersea Park (London). The company has advised anyone with existing bookings or vouchers to contact customer service to arrange refunds or transfers.
