Legoland Reinvests For The 2020 Season

Legoland Windsor
Monday 24th February 2020

Legoland Windsor Resort is seriously reinvesting money back into the theme park this closed season with multiple large projects going on around the park. The park opened its gates for its half term event “Brick Week” this week and for the first time ever opened rides and attractions to guests visiting. From small attractions like Driving School to the larger rides like The Dragon and Haunted House Monster Party.

Although the water rides were closed for Brick Week this doesn’t mean work wasn’t being done to them. All of the boats for Vikings River Splash could be seen in the car park having the rubber rings, doors and handlebars removed for maintenance. Due to the high winds that have swept the nation the past few weeks, it appears the roof of the queue line for the ride has also been damaged and will need to be replaced over the next few weeks before the season starts on 13th March 2020.

Of course, with the installation of Duplo Dino Coaster, Duplo Valley is currently receiving the most attention as the new family rollercoaster could be seen testing. More photos of this can be found in our previous article that we posted last week. The Duplo Dino Coaster opening to guests midday on 14th March 2020.

All of the toilets in the park also appear to be getting a major update with temporary toilets installed at the entrance to the park and the Pirates Burger Kitchen. Also located in Pirate Shores, a new Lego Pirate band has been installed replacing the old broken band members (made from genuine Lego bricks). Other minor sections of work can be found around the park such as a new building being built behind Pirates Burger Kitchen, possibly for ride maintenance. Squid Surfer has had its old wooden queue line removed and the ride is still undergoing its closed season maintenance. In Heart Lake City, the green screen photo studio has been removed, which hasn’t been used since the first few months of the area opening back in 2015.

Over in 'Knights Kingdom', the area is currently undergoing a major repaint and makeover. We reported at Christmas time that the castle was undergoing a total repaint and now we have noticed that more of the castle containing The Dragon ride has now been repainted with more detail added on the sections we already saw. A new bridge connecting the castle and the main path has also been built. Knights Quest, unfortunately, wasn’t open for Brick Week, however, we got to see a glimpse into the rides closed season work.

In December, Legoland confirmed that 'Lego Atlantis' was going to be rethemed into 'Lego City Deep Sea Adventure'. The old facade of the ride had started to be removed back in December and now, the front of the 'Sea Life' ride looks unrecognisable from its former self! The large triangle at the entrance has gone and now, a more futuristic and sleek entrance portal is installed, complete with a new large space for what we believe will be a pre-show to the ride. No opening date has been confirmed for the ride however at the speed the work is going, we wouldn't be surprised it to be ready for the start of the 2020 season.

It's not just the theme park undergoing work ready for the theme park season, the Legoland Hotel is currently undergoing some refurbishment work. Currently, the outside of the hotel has scaffolding up around the entrance portal and the side of one of the hotel wings.
