In the light of the rapids accident at Drayton Manor earlier this year Thorpe park has brought back an old rule on rumba rapids. In previous years the park introduced a rule where if your under 18 you needed an adult present in order to ride. This rule was put in place to try and stop people messing around and standing up during the ride. It's currently unknown if this rule will become permanent or if it's because the park is expecting a lot of school trips in the next few weeks.
After the accident in Drayton Manor earlier this year extra staff where put around the ride and extra signs where put up reminding guests to remain seated at all times. One extra measure all merlin parks have done is to remove water cannons around the ride
