90% Of Nemesis Track Installed August 2023 Update
Monday 14th August 2023
Nemesis is one step closer to being complete and ready for testing! 90% of the track now looks to be installed with the only sections waiting to be installed being the first section off of the lift hill and the corkscrew.
Since our last major look at Nemesis so much has happened! The loop, Zero-G Roll and Helix have been installed. But this isn't the only major work that's happened, the repainting of the Nemesis station has begun. It would appear that the new colour scheme of the station could be grey and red. Some sections of the station appear to have primer on them at the moment whereas other parts have more dark and intense red and greys.
In a dramatic change, the Nemesis eye has been removed from the station and a new main feature is being installed. Rumours look to suggest this new feature could be a 3D eye or feature screens like Wickerman has on its main theming structure.
Other changes around the site include the grinding down of sections of the track, this is done to make sure all of the joints of the ride are smooth. These then get repainted to make them blend back in, don't panic! The lift hill and break run of the ride are also currently getting repainted, with these sections not needing to be replaced the track colour is going to get an update. It would also appear that the wiring of these sections is getting replaced!
Of course, lots of track remains in the car park near the exit barriers waiting to be installed. We wonder how quickly the rest of the rollercoaster will be installed! With the speed that these sections of track got installed in, we expect it could be complete by the end of August!
Nemesis Loop Installed And Zero-G Roll Work Begins
Monday 24th July 2023
More track has been delivered for Nemesis at Alton Towers and lots more sections of track have been installed over the past few weeks since our last update. The loop and beginning of the inversion over the station have been installed. Different to before, the loop is now in 3 sections. The red veins going up the side of the loop look amazing!
It shouldn't be long until we start to see supports installed for the Zero-G roll and for the first section of the ride. Scaofdling also currently covered the lift hill for the ride which appears to be being repainted with a primer. We wonder if the rest of the rollercoaster track will be repainted black with veins to match.
These new supports that have been delivered are thicker than the supports we've seen delivered in the past. These will be for sections of the ride that require more reinforcement. We expect these will be for the helix section of the ride. As that was the section that always struggled and had lots of work done to it over the years.
Nemesis Flys Back Into Place
Friday 16th June 2023
The early bird catches the flying Nemesis track!
As soon as we arrived at Alton Towers today it was clear that the team rebuilding Nemesis arnt sitting around and are taking advantage of the good summer weather to crane in new sections of track.
Since our last visit the inversion has been completed and sections of track for the turnaround section have been installed. Although the turnaround is yet to be completed the familiar view of Nemesis's banked turn is slowly returning, it won't be long until trains are roaring past again with guests screaming and enjoying themselves.
Two sections of track have been lifted into place during our quick visit to the theme park today. Supports have been installed in the far left corner of the site. Home to the turnaround section and loop, there are no signs of the track for the loop yet but over the next few weeks, we expect that this whole section will be complete! Possibly by the end of June / start of July.
Over in the car park where most of the track is being stored the zero-g roll can be seen waiting to be installed. It would also appear a small compound has been created at the top of the site where the cranes are located. Some sections of the track can be seen within the construction site and in the car park.
Another small change in the area is that the new signage for The Blade has been painted blue. Could this mean that the area around Nemesis is set to tempoary close again very soon?
It's not every day you get to see sections of track fly into the pit of Nemesis!
Nemesis Rebuild Late May 2023 Update
Tuesday 30th May 2023
The re-tracking of Nemesis at Alton Towers is continuing, with more track and supports delivered every week.
Since our last visit to the park more 2 more sections of track have been installed for the final inversion. When riding the monorail, you can now see track coming out of the tunnel and the inversion taking shape. A small red pole can be seen keeping this section upright and supported whilst other supports are installed and finished. New breaks and kicker wheels can be seen sat in the break run waiting to be install over the next few months.
Supports for the turnaround inversion have also been installed. It won’t be long until more track is installed and views from the viewing platform will become more exciting!
The biggest change seen since our last visit is the removal of one of the legs of the Nemesis creature. Is this an indication of the theme of the station dramatically changing or just maintenance of the station structure?
Nemesis Sub-Terra To Reopen 27th May 2023
Wednesday 17th May 2023
Alton Towers Resort has announced its hugely popular drop tower dark ride, Nemesis Sub-Terra, is reopening on May 27, just in time for May half term. The underground attraction, which is a firm favourite amongst theme park fans, invites guests to embark on an intense journey and witness the research of The Phalanx, before freefalling into the pit. Nemesis Sub-Terra, also known as the Phalanx Research Facility, is being reopened by The Phalanx, the secret organisation tasked with keeping the Nemesis beast under control. Civilians are invited to take a thrilling ride deep into the Earth’s core to discover the secretive research of The Phalanx. We’re told it’s controlled and contained, but very little is known about the origins of the egg that sits beneath the Nemesis site, but this much is clear, it’s showing life signs, and a team of Phalanx operatives are investigating. But can they keep control?Alongside the announcement, the Resort has revealed the attraction’s brand-new logo echoing the look and feel of the new Nemesis track, which was unveiled last week. The slick black track with red veins snaking along its length can now be seen on park ahead of its return in 2024. Located next to Nemesis Sub-Terra, fans of Nemesis can also watch the transformation take place on a specially constructed viewing platform, overlooking the site.Nemesis Sub-Terra will reopen on 27th May.
