Chessington 2020 Theme Park Season Launches In 19 Days

Chessington World Of Adventures
Saturday 29th February 2020

Chessington World Of Adventures Resort reopens to guests on 19th March 2020, in 19 days the theme park will fully reopen with the launch of Rainforest in March and the new pirate ship due to open at some point this year. Last-minute repainting and work around the park has begun with the guest services building currently under scaffolding and having a full repaint. Resorting it back to its former glory.

Work on adding trains and cars back onto rollercoasters isn’t something that happens overnight, Rattlesnake has had most of its cars added back onto the track with car number 6 sat in the maintenance area waiting to be craned into the pit and put back into use. Other rollercoasters around the park appear to already have its trains back, The Vampire and Dragons Fury was seen testing throughout the day and Scorpion Express was open for half term.

New additions for this year, Elmer's Flying Jumbos looks to be progressing nicely, we believe the ride has been testing over the past few days. The operator's booth for the ride has been painted a bright red colour, some theming has been added around the area and speakers have been installed. Push buttons to make the ride go up and down have also been reinstalled for the ride.

With the park back to its normal closed season format we can no longer see what’s going on in the Rainforest area but the roof for Jungle Rangers has been cladded with bamboo and the old pay per use cars track is still under construction. Work on the foundations for the new pirate ship replacing Black Buccaneer looks to be progressing nicely, footers in all 4 corners of the ride can now be seen with some landscaping also taking place in the corner of the ride. We still expect this ride to be open by the start of the summer season.

Other small sections of work going on around the park include the Tiny Truckers cars slowly being re-added to the ride circuit, Sea Storm being reassembled after its closed season work, a new HB Leisure games stand being installed by Captain's Fish and Chips Shop and the main shop slowly getting new merchandise for the 2020 season.

There's lots of work to be finished up over the next few days. The last Zoo Days date is 7th March 2020 with the park closed to guests on Sunday 8th March.
