Chessington December 2024 Closed Season Insight

Chessington World Of Adventures
Tuesday 17th December 2024

Chessington is taking a break from its main 2024 theme park season, but is still open for its Christmas event. Select areas of the park will be open with limited rides operating, offering guests a glimpse of the seasonal magic while showcasing behind-the-scenes maintenance and development work across the resort.

Park Updates with Limited Areas Open:

The pathway from the entrance of the park to Seastorm remains closed during this time. This space has been creatively repurposed as a silent disco area where guests can enjoy festive tunes while queuing for a chance to see Santa.

Winter maintenance is underway on Chessington’s iconic Vampire coaster. The trains have been disassembled and are currently visible outside the ride’s entrance. Observant guests will notice traces of white paint, and evidence of crack testing being carried out on the ride’s trains.

The Halloween maze Vile Villagers has been removed, and the pathway leading to Wild Woods remains closed as the area undergoes behind the scenes work.

Access to the pathways outside Dragons Fury and Wild Asia remains closed to guests.

Maintenance is underway on Dragons Fury, with some of the coaster’s cars visible on the track as part of the ride’s scheduled winter upkeep.

Unfortunately, there is still no visible work on the animatronic dragon Frazzle near Dragons Fury. The effect has remained broken throughout the year.

In The Rainforest area, two out of the three rides are open for the Christmas event. However, River Rafts is undergoing maintenance, with work currently being done in its station area.

Seastorm is also receiving its annual maintenance. The ride’s boats have been removed, and for the first time ever, a large fence with artwork has been installed around the attraction, adding a visual element to the ongoing work.

Not much activity is visibly taking place in Mexicana, but a cherry picker has been spotted parked outside the Rattlesnake exit, suggesting minor works in the area.

The Guest Services building is undergoing a significant transformation into a brand-new sensory space, which is expected to open in time for the 2025 season. This will enhance the experience for guests who benefit from a quieter, more accessible environment.

While the park may appear quieter during this period, this small insight highlights the essential work and preparations happening behind the scenes to ensure an exciting and refreshed park experience for future seasons.
