Chessington End Of 2021 Closed Season Update

Chessington World Of Adventures
Thursday 30th December 2021

2022 is just around the corner and over at Chessington World of Adventures.  The park is currently undergoing lots of closed season projects, such as normal rides getting their yearly maintenance and the repainting of some structures and buildings.

Since its closure earlier this year, Sea Storm has now been fully dismantled for maintenance. Over the past few years, the area that used to house Creeky Cafe has been used for rides parts storage. The huge centrepiece of theming and the arms for Sea Storm can be seen sitting in this space.

Although supposed to be open for Winter's Tail, the Vampire seems to be undergoing some extra maintenance.  The park started on their social media channels yesterday during our visit that the ride will not be reopening for the Winters Tail event and scaffolding can currently be seen on the second lift hill. Over the past few weeks, lots of sections of the track have been jetwashed and red patches have appeared, which appears to be the ride being crack tested, something similar which happened a few years ago at Alton Towers with Nemesis. Could this be the first sign that the ride might receive a repaint?

The entrance to Dragons Fury was repainted for the start of this years season, leaving the fastrack entrance portal and photo booth looking a little tired.  Over the past few weeks, both of these have been repainted the same as the entrance. It's great to see the park taking good care of older attractions. Sea Dragons has now been put back together since our last visit and the Windmill on the outside to Dragons has been given some TLC and reinstalled.

Although new for the 2021 season, Croc Drop is already getting some work done to the theming guests drop into. Patches of theming appear to have been damaged during the season this year, scaffolding can be seen inside the ride to get access to these sections to repatch and fix any issues. Inside the station for Croc Drop, the floor has been removed and the ride is currently going through its closed season checks and maintenance. Even new rides need to be checked!

Over in Wild Asia, the area is receiving the most amount of work we've ever seen! The Jungle Bus has been removed for maintenance, the entrance to Monkey Swinger has been fully repainted and the huge elephant statues around the area have been given a makeover. Now partially painted bright colours they look amazing! Scaffolding appears to be being installed around Temple of Mayhem could see also see this huge building be repainted in time for the 2022 theme park season? Tiger-Rock, Gruffalo boats and a Dodgems car can also be seen in the Wild Asia area, but we expect this is just for storage reasons.
