Project Rex Ground Works and Retheme Underway

Legoland Windsor
Thursday 6th August 2020

Project Rex at Legoland Windsor continues to move along quickly! Work on retheming Adventure Land is well underway, with the Squid Surfer completely gutted and already halfway through being rethemed. The old entrance portal rock work has been resprayed and the theming around the ride is currently being painted up; with some flame theming and some sections of the rockwork have exposed lego sections.

Work on the foundations for the two new drop towers has started, where an old tree once stood. A large trench has been dug and the fountains will eventually be poured.

The areas main attraction is going to be a large flying theatre, similar to the one located at Legoland Florida and Voletarium at Europa Park. Located next to the staff area, the attraction isn’t visible from any public areas apart from the exit of Mias Riding Adventure. When on the ride, you get a bird's eye view of the site, where you can see the pit for the ride mechanics is complete and the foundations for the back of house and pre-show area is still under construction. No building frame for the ride can be seen yet, however, we would expect this to start going up around mid-September time.

The new theme for Project Rex remains unknown since it was changed in resubmitted plans. However, looking at all of the Lego sets on the market, we believe that the area could have a Lego Factory theme or will be an original idea.
