Fright Nights 2024

Thorpe Park has outdone itself with Fright Nights 2024, offering an incredible mix of new attractions, returning favorites, and fresh surprises that elevate the Halloween experience to a whole new level. From terrifying mazes to immersive scare zones, live shows, and even spooky night rides, Fright Nights 2024 is a strong lineup packed with intense thrills and immersive atmospheres.

Deadbeat (New for 2024)

The star of this year’s Fright Nights is the all-new maze Deadbeat. Built from scratch under the code name “Project Sophie,” this maze delivers a unique, high-energy experience that captivates from the moment you enter. With the queue line music featuring “Murder on the Dancefloor,” the tone is set for a wild ride. Inside, the theming is truly next-level—there’s so much detail packed into the environment that you won’t know where to look. With props like fruit machines, stripper poles, two-way glass, drinks, lights, and the best music we’ve ever heard in a maze, Deadbeat offers an experience like no other.

A standout feature is the new special effect—a sliding actor on a rail hanging above guests, moving back and forth to scare visitors from above. The creative use of smells throughout the maze, starting with a fishy odor as you enter, adds another layer of immersion. We loved spotting fun Easter eggs like the guest list in the second room featuring famous names like “Death” as party attendees. The actors' costumes and makeup are superb, and the strobe-lit finale where actors climb on cages is nothing short of spectacular. Deadbeat is a fantastic new addition, and it’ll be exciting to see how guests react over the coming weeks.

IT: The 4D Experience (New for 2024)

Another fresh attraction for 2024 is IT: The 4D Experience, offering a cut-down version of the iconic horror movie in a fully immersive format. Staff dressed in yellow raincoats and red balloons provide an eerie introduction, setting the mood perfectly. The surprise balloon pop during the intro keeps audiences on their toes, and the 4D effects like water sprays are used exceptionally well, enhancing the tension during key moments of the film. Outside the cinema, don’t miss the clever Pennywise drain effect—an easy-to-miss but highly effective touch.

Stitches

Returning from 2023, Stitches remains a fan favorite with its strong cast and disturbing theme. While most of the maze remains the same, Thorpe Park has cleverly reused costumes and characters from other mazes, like Death’s Doors, which keeps things fresh. It’s great to see Stitches win an award at the UK Theme Park Awards, proudly displayed in the preshow. However, one area for improvement would be a pre-recorded preshow so every visitor gets a consistent introduction. Unfortunately, the bungee effect, a highlight in 2023, wasn’t working during our visit, but overall, Stitches continues to deliver with great costumes, makeup, and scare factor.

Survival Games

Survival Games has undergone some changes for 2024, with a new preshow featuring a victim in an electric chair. This interactive element asks guests to press buttons while the victim urges them not to, adding a tense decision-making aspect. However, a significant change inside the maze is that the central doors are now boarded up, shortening the experience as guests are directed straight toward the exit. While this streamlining diminishes the "survival" element of the maze, the costumes and makeup remain top-notch, and the overall atmosphere is still intense.

Trailers

Trailers returns with a fresh twist for 2024. This maze, starring the returning character "The Director," is packed with nods to past Fright Nights favorites like Platform 15 and Creek Freak. There’s a new room inspired by Death’s Doors, although the Breakout at Brainsbury’s room now feels slightly out of place. The new black-and-white repaint of the Big Top room is a fantastic update, and the final chase scene featuring the Buckwheats chasing you out is thrilling. We’d love to see a chainsaw return for this scene, adding an extra layer of terror. Overall, Trailers feels rejuvenated for 2024, and with Creek Freak and Platform 15 back, it’s better than ever.

Lucifer’s Lair

Returning for 2024, Lucifer’s Lair is a crowd-pleasing scare zone with fiery shows and iconic music. This year, new costumes and the addition of the character Lilith, who performs her own show, freshen up the experience. With the stage relocated for better crowd flow, the area feels more spacious and welcoming. The stunning costumes, intense makeup, and interactive performances continue to make this one of the top highlights of Fright Nights.

Crows of Mawkin Meadow

The Crows of Mawkin Meadow scare zone returns for 2024, and it’s even more atmospheric than before. Set in the old Saw Alive plaza, this free-to-enter scare zone is packed with eerie lighting, fog effects, and detailed theming that makes it look amazing at night. The new central structure and dual routes through the area keep things interesting, and the scare actors, dressed as crows, are as creepy as ever.

Creature Campus – Looks Can Kill

Set in the Stealth plaza, Creature Campus: Looks Can Kill marks a departure from the Amity High and Lycans characters. Instead, it introduces witches and a new character, Medusa, who battles it out in a high-energy dance show. The inclusion of Medusa is a fantastic touch, and the sparks flying from the witches’ brooms during one scene are an unexpected but thrilling effect. The high school-themed set design, complete with a pole for actors to slide down, adds to the interactive fun. The show is a must-see during both the day and nighttime.

Night rides on Hyperia are now part of the Fright Nights experience, and they’re not to be missed. As the tallest roller coaster in the UK, Hyperia offers an exhilarating ride with stunning views of the lit-up park and even Heathrow Airport in the distance. Thorpe Park has done a great job getting the ride back up and running in time for Fright Nights, and riding it in the dark adds an extra layer of excitement.

The 2024 Fright Nights merchandise lineup is bigger and better than ever. From maze-themed pin badges to spooky hoodies and T-shirts, there’s something for every horror fan. The merchandise is conveniently located in a pop-up shop within the Nemesis Inferno store, surrounded by nostalgic Fright Nights banners. Over in Big Easy Boulevard, the Fanta pop-up attraction is a fun addition, featuring a spooky mirror wall, photo booth, and a cool 360-degree video globe displaying eerie content. It’s a light-hearted, refreshing contrast to the scarier parts of the event.

Fright Nights 2024 is an outstanding event packed with terrifyingly good attractions, brilliant acting, and immersive theming. Deadbeat is a clear standout, while returning mazes like Trailers, Stitches, and Survival Games continue to impress. The scare zones and live shows add plenty of atmosphere, and the new Creature Campus dance show is a surprising delight. Thorpe Park has once again proven why Fright Nights remains a must-visit for thrill-seekers. With a strong lineup, excellent performances, and an immersive atmosphere, this year’s Fright Nights is one of the best yet.
