Aviktas Spins for the First Time at Pleasure Beach Resort

Blackpool Pleasure Beach
Wednesday 25th February 2026

There were big cheers in Blackpool this week as Aviktas officially moved for the very first time.

The park’s £8.72 million mega ride completed its first controlled rotation during testing, marking a huge milestone ahead of its planned Spring 2026 opening. For the first time, the 138ft giant moved under its own power — a major step forward in the build.

Engineers slowly rotated the 40-seater pendulum in a careful test, giving fans a first glimpse of the ride in motion. While it was only a small spin, the first full swing is expected to take place in the coming weeks.

Fans have been closely following construction over the past few months, watching as the four massive 16-tonne legs were installed and the striking golden swinging arm was lifted into place. Now, seeing it finally move makes it all feel very real.

When fully operational, Aviktas will reach 138ft at its highest point and swing 120 degrees out over the Blackpool coastline, making it the tallest ride of its kind in the UK. It’s already changed the seafront skyline — and it hasn’t even reached full height yet.

Social media was quick to react after footage of the first movement was shared, with many calling it one of the most exciting additions the park has seen in years.

Aviktas is set to open in Spring 2026, with an official date still to be confirmed. A VIP Preview Event is also planned, giving lucky riders the chance to experience it before the full launch.
