Thorpe Park 2020 Closed Season Insight

The 2020 Theme Park season is over at Thorpe Park, which means its time for ride and attractions throughout the park to be stripped down and reassembled. 

With the car park now empty, it would appear that Thorpe Park has rented out the large car park to the car brand Tesla. Allowing customers to collect their cars and maintain social distancing. 

Every 4-5 years, Rush has the top of its structure removed and checked for cracks and sometimes even repainted! All of the swings, seats and cables have been removed for extensive maintenance. Rush isn't the only ride in Lost City receiving extensive maintenance, almost all of Quantium has been removed ready for its closed season work. Vortex looks to be undergoing its normal closed season work, with all of the backs of the restraints removed ready for inspection. 

The rest of the island looks pretty quiet from across the lake, it's strange to think just over a month ago Fright Nights was still going on and the Lycans and The Crows where entertaining guests. 

Walking down monks walk, you can get a great view of Platform 15 and the exterior of the park. With a new wall installed by the old Platform 15 entrance, views into the park have once again been restricted. Ladders can be seen on the rock and tug attraction, fire effects for Platform 15 still appear to be setup. We would also expect on the floor of Old Town Rocky Express will be half disassembled. 

Slammer remains SBNO and shows no signs of going anywhere. The stage installed for Octokberfest and Fearistival area looks to have disappeared. But the scaffolding tower built for Roots of Evil still remains standing however the searchlight that was installed on it has been removed. 

Nemesis Inferno is undergoing its yearly maintenance, just like last year one train can be seen on the brake run and we expect the other is in the maintenance building. One row of the train on the brake run has all of its restraints removed. Interestingly, this year the top of the train has been covered by a large dust sheet. At the end of the theme park season, a higher fence was being added to the exit of the ride,  this now looks to be completed. Unlike the fence previously installed. This new section is at an angle to keep guests from climbing it and getting into the ride area. 

All of the Rumba Rapids boats are once again located down the side of the access road. With new parts and a pump seen in the maintenance bay for the rapids. 

Thorpe Park is set to reopen Saturday 27th March 2021.
