UK Theme Parks Covid 19 Update

Monday 20th April 2020

Merlin Entertainments, the company behind Thorpe Park, Alton Towers and Legoland Windsor, have released an update for visitors on social media and on their websites.

Previously the parks had put a potential reopening date of 25th April 2020, which was a week after the initial 3-week lockdown period. Now, the theme parks will need to continue to monitor the lockdown period and could possibly try to start to open the parks from the beginning of June onwards. This is all down to government guidelines and the plan of ending lockdown.

Thorpe Park:

Following the decision on 19th March to postpone the opening of Thorpe Park & due to continued Government guidelines, we're urging all guests with tickets or short breaks booked between 26th April & 1st June 2020 to visit our website for info on how to change their booking.

Alton Towers:

On 19th March, we announced that Alton Towers Resort would be closed to guests until further notice. All guests with short breaks booked up until 25th April have been contacted so their bookings could be rearranged. Given the continued Government restrictions and public health guidance, we are now urging all guests with short breaks booked arriving between 26th April and 1st June 2020 to rearranging their bookings.

Messages across all parks social media reflect the same information.
