Corkscrew

Alton Towers
1980 - 2010

Back in 1980 when installed, the Corkscrew was the cutting edge of roller coaster technology and thrill seekers from all over the world travelled to experience what it had to offer. The ride consisted of a very high lift hill, tight turns, a double corkscrew and a fast helix section. Although a classic rollercoaster the ride was closed in 2010 due to the ride becoming uncomfortable and very old. The ride had very little changes over its 28 years of operation. Apart from new trains in the nineties nothing was changed! The ride will change the fate of the park forever, although the ride was removed part of it now resides in the entrance plaza of the theme park.
