From 2013 until 2016 Thorpe Park did something rather different to the Swarm. Turning the back two rows of the rollercoaster backwards created a brand new experience never seen before in the UK!
The phrase "Brave it backwards" was applied to the ride and the parks branding for the year. Announced on the parks social media channels over the closed season, guests where left wondering what was going to happen to the ride.
Brave it backwards has its own dedicated queue line, due to the throughput being limited to the back 2 rows the experience sometimes had longer queues than riding the rollercoaster normally.
At the start of the 2017 season, the ride was returned to facing forwards only.
