Project Exodus Foundations Continue August 2023 Update
Friday 11th August 2023
Project Exodus is progressing nicely with work on drilling new foundations for the ride now looking complete. The machine that’s been used to drill holes into the ground for the supports for the rides station and supports has now been packed up ready to be moved off site.
This is our first update for a few months down Monks Walk and from this new angle we’ve been able to get a better look at the new foundations for the ride. First thing we noticed is that a new gate has been fitted at the front of the site near Burger King. Securing access to the construction site. Foundations for the station and maintenance building have been drilled and poured over the past few weeks. A trench for where the station will be can be seen on the side of the site. We expect over the next few weeks we will see the foundation base for the station be poured along with the bases for the station supports.
We’re still a few weeks away from seeing supports go virtual but we expect the park will start towards the back of the site and then make their way forward.
Walking down Monks Walk we said to ourselves we wonder if the old Platform 15 fence will ever be removed and if the last remaining Loggers Leap section of track over the lake will ever be removed or left there forever.
Project Exodus One Colossus View
Saturday 22nd July 2023
It's time for a Project Exodus update that takes it to new heights! This update comes from both the ground and the lift hill of Colossus. Taken during a VIP Lift Hill walk of Colossus this experience gives you a bird's eye view of the construction of the new Mack Rides rollercoaster.
Over the past few weeks, the park has been busy getting foundations ready and from the lift hill of Colossus you can start to see the layout of the rollercoaster and its foundations. Although we might be a few weeks away from the rollercoaster going vertical it's exciting to see progress being made at such a fast pace. This time last year the area was left abandoned and Loggers Leap was still standing.
Towards the back left of the site, foundations for the lift hill and first drop look to be completed. It does feel like the crews building the ride are focusing on the back first and then going forwards. Looking at the site you can see some fresh foundations that could have been poured yesterday towards the front. However, there are still lots of rebar bases left to be installed.
The drill has now also made it to the front of the site meaning we can now see how close to the front of Old Town this rollercoaster is going to get when it comes out of the station. During the day we say the drill making new foundations for it then to stop with the drill left poking out of the ground for the rest of the day.
With support columns delivered for the ride during the week, we also tried to snap a photo ourselves. However, due to all of the trees and bushes, you can only see glimpses of the white supports through the trees from Sunken Gardens and The Swarm Island.
It's fair to say this view from the Colossus lift hill is going to change dramatically over the next few months.
Ride Supports For Project Exodus Delivered
Monday 17th July 2023
Project Exodus is about to get exciting!
Thorpe Park has today received a delivery of supports for the new rollercoaster built by Mack Rides. This is the first delivery of many which looks to be being stored on the island next to The Swarm.
No sign of any track yet but these white supports look great! It shouldn’t be long until we start to see things go virtual for Project Exodus. The next few weeks and months are going to be very exciting!
July 2023 Construction Round Up Project Exodus
Saturday 15th July 2023
Project Exodus at Thorpe Park is progressing well with work on installing footers around the site continuing the drilling for support foundations almost coming to an end (in our best guess)
Over the past few weeks, the construction team have been hard at work drilling supports for the new rollercoaster. Starting towards the back of the site the drill can now be seen at the front where the train will leave the station and climb up the 236ft lift hill.
Footers/ground pins can be seen all around the site, with a few stacked up near the old Loggers Leap second lift hill area. Lots of rebar boxes have been made over the past 2 weeks and are waiting to be installed to then have concrete poured into them to form foundations for the new rollercoaster.
With the temporary fence pushed back we can get a slightly better view of the construction site. Although nothing has gone vertical yet it's exciting to see this area receive so much work. It shouldn't be long until drilling for foundations are complete and the track starts being shipped and arrives at the park.
The huge new wall near the Samurai exit still sits plain and boring, how much longer will it be until we start to see some new marketing for this new ride?!
Project Exodus is starting to get exciting!
