Thorpe Park 2022 Closed Season Insight

January marks the halfway point of the closed season and with Thorpe Park due to reopen on Friday 25th March, work is underway to prepare the park for the 2022 theme park season. Looking across the lake and a walk down Monks Walk, the island remains quiet on a Saturday evening. 

One big change around the lake is new health and safety boards have been installed. With emergency throw lines installed if someone is in danger. From a brief look at the park, we can see Vortex is currently undergoing its closed season maintenance, with all of the restraints and seats removed. The Tidal Wave bridge appears to currently have scaffolding covering it. 

With Old Town confirmed to be closed, the future of the 3 rides located in the area remains a mystery. Some rumours going around is that some of these rides could be relocated to another area of the park. 

Old Town remains standing, for now, Rocky Express can still be seen standing. From what we can see and work out, the cars for the ride look to still be attached. However, we couldn't see Lumber Jump so it's possible this attraction might be moving to another area of the park. 

2021 meant the end of Platform 15 - a maze that has run down the old Canada Creek Railway route since 2016. It appears that some work is going on to remove the maze, with some props no longer being in the area, the front of the huge train has been taken off and at the ending of the maze, the fake train is being dismantled. We expect we won't see anything major happen in this area until planning permission is granted. But, it's strange to think how different this area will look in a few years time! 

Walking towards the old Roots of Evil maze, the maze looks to have been cleared a bit. Some of the old shrubbery was removed making the area look a lot more open. We expect that this maze and the old Zombie Hunt attraction will be removed over the next few months to allow for an access road into Old Town. 

All of the Rumba Rapids boats have been removed from the circuit and covered over to protect them from the cold. Previous to our update we have seen photos of a train on the Nemesis Inferno break run. This seems to have now been moved, we expect it's now been moved into the maintenance shed, which can only hold 1 train at a time. 

It's a quiet year at Thorpe Park from what we can see, however, this doesn't mean bigger things are happening behind the scenes!
